30 seconds in and I´ve already had enough. This video sucks !
Watched this playing my Yamaha BB434 and was very happy to see you shout out their basses. Next bass will be a BBP34
Mesa is underrated- probably because their guitar amps are more well known. Their bass amps are quietly the best quality of all brands represented here and are actually not overpriced. Though Ampeg does have the SVT, and Fender has the Super Bassman everything else here is WAY below them.
Solar is not a Chinese brand. It's Ola Englund's guitar/bass brand and they are pretty solid.
That was interesting, thanks. BTW, thanks also for the ZOOM B1XFOUR video that Helped a lot. Especially since I'm old (no really) and picking the bass back up after a huge lay off, like 25+ years, back when this tech didn't even exist so I was really ignorant on what was out there. Same thing buying a new bass and rig. I ended up with a Yamaha and love it but you're right; it reminds me of my Ford F250 pickup I used to own, a real work horse great, feature quality but not gonna catch your eye in a beauty contest. But for the record: I just ordered a Sadowsky and here's why. I'm retired and my hobby job(as my wife calls it) pays for my stuff, so I could have bought whatever, literally. But being old, it didn't mean I was going to pay for a high end Music Man or custom rig. But the real complication when I was shopping for a second rig was this: I was looking for a fretless, and at the end of the day finding one with the stuff I felt like I needed i.e. fret markers (light colored ones cause I'm old and can't see jack), great tonality, good build quality, and a 4 string didn't leave a lot of options. I just landed on a Sadowsky. And truthfully it had a lot to do in the end with having a 42 year career in the power-line industry and understanding transformers an applied electrical theory very well, Sadowsky's pre-amp and control system just interested me and seemed like a good value. I also appreciated your take on the top tier lines. I live in a very rural part of the country so a lot of help and information is simply not available so you're kinda reliant on the internet. Being out here also teaches you to watch out for paying for what we call "green paint". Paying for John Deer prices and not really getting old school John Deer quality. Which is where I feel like Fender is now. While the "entry level" basses can give you a good product, there is more of a risk that consistent quality control may not be there without getting sucked into buying a custom job. Because then; that's exactly what you're paying for, all that "fit & finish" work that's behind the scenes. While I realize it's just your opinion, it is something. When a huge percentage of the stuff on youtube is basically an "ad". Thanks again.
Calling Solar cheap chinese. Let me call Ola to have a talk with you
I use a Tech 21 amplifier; it has the VT Bass DI pedal integrated. I'm so upset that they discontinued their amplifiers as I absolutely love it and wish more people had one.
Your country is sick?..
Yeah w/e.. anyways g&l should not be S tier because they are so afraid to innovate past what Leo Fender did, like it took them 30+ years to update the SB2 model..
Reverend who is not on this list should be in A or S tier
Schecter is not dogshit lol, even with that cringe guitar
I have tried a few Ampeg rigs on stage, and they do an admirable job not very versatile when it comes to tone. Tried a Fender 15" combo once on my Upright bass and it was nice and woolly. I've owned a Genx Benz for 15 years that is my go-to AMP when I want something easy to dial in. But for grunt and grind I'll take GK live and for recording at home.
THANK YOU I THOUGHT WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT THOUGHT MARKBASS JUST DOESN’T SOUND GOOD, though I have noticed that it’s great for upright bass
peace and pacekeepers
The "never played" tier makes sense.
Swift, Full & complete recovery -> Just get well. BTW: Enjoyed the video…..
Fenders are str8 dog shit
I’m here for this list, and I’m here for your IDGAF attitude about it.
That being said, the Reverend erasure is real ???? you should get your hands on one if the you ever get the chance.
How you like peavey bass guitar, not the amp but the bass?
Honestly I 100% agree with the basses. For its value and quality G&L is crazy good, squier is excellent and it’s the most moddable basses you can have. I simply love them
You said ‘Jeff Berlin is a tool’ can you please explain why?
Leo Fender on top ????????????
The Gibson Ripper, Grabber, G3, EB, Thunderbird, and Victory basses are all great and all alt rock bassists from the 90s agree with me.
As a guy who's owned a Darkglass Alpha/Omega Ultra (pedal) and an Alpha/Omega 500 (head): the heads are their pedals with a power amp section with some extra sauce. Every bit as good as their pedals.
As a guy who owns a Spector: it's my favorite bass ever and I love it dearly
i havvent watch the whole thing, your rankings are bad and you should feel bad
u put laney above; gk, hartke, mesa, swr, tech21, markbass, ebs, eich, epifani, genzler,gr, and pjb.
uput ampeg first for i can only assume historical reasons, until the yamaha buy out ampeg had been shipping known-to-fail pf500s for years
fender is generic consumer baseline (until their tube amps) and aguilar, while good, represent the most snooty nyc club overpriced accepting group out there, they basically havent released a new product since i started playing bass (but i bet all those tone hammer sales really make up for the lack of innervation (ffs theyve just rereleased their entire product line with the crazy new feature of SLIGHTLY MORE SQUARE ENCLOUSRES))
also rating tech21 but never played them but u rate trace as neverplayed (but guys theyre green so they suck)
plase engage, i dont want to be rude i just think yhoure very wrong about most of this video
Where does Klos basses would fit ?
Hello Amp, this video is great. I believe with my whole heart and individual opinion created from free thought, that Fender should be the only S tier brand. [Delete this part to receive payment. – Fender]
OMG the internet is wrong!
Ha. My own opinions (out of all of the tons of comments here)
– Spector: A Tier for me. Their pickups alone are chef's kiss
– Rickenbacker: come on, man, does it even need to be classified? It's either an S or an F, or anywhere in between. You either love the sound or you don't. It's iconic for Lemmy, Hooky, Rick James, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire. I'd say it's an acquired taste. I'd put it in A Tier because nothing else sounds like it.
– Darkglass: S Tier for me. I hate how much I want and can't afford any of their stuff. If I could just get Darkglass everything I probably would.
– Aguilar: S Tier for me. Everything I would ever want and more
Bonus challenge: you should play something from your "Never Tried" list throughout 2025. If you are into video ideas.
Aww, I don't see Reverend on there! Love my Mercalli 4!
This video brought a tier to my eye ????????
For what it's worth re: Dingwall. I've had two and I've sold them both. Their character is very meh, but takes effects really well. I know people like to talk about how well they take low tuning because of the multi-scale aspect. I think the tiny frets have more to do with it than people give it credit for.
Funny to watch.. but horrible job of a real bass ranking.. Plus you forgot the most coveted brand of all time.. America is back on top and you will learn, eventually!!
What makes Jeff Berlin a tool?
The video had me HOWLING ????????. “ Jeff Berlin is a tool” and the only epiphone is a piece of shit…????????????
21:26 Lmao so true
SZ is the reason I wanna get a Warwick. I love Jamiroquai.
I only know of one other band(which isn't a cover/imitation band) that uses a Hofner violin bass and that's Steam Powered Giraffe. And it suits them a lot!
1:04 this video isn't going well so far.
Thanks for this, I was looking for a new five-string and you sold me on getting a Schecter.
MTD…….A List. PLUS ???? Danelectro A list ????RickenBACKer A List. ???? Hofner B List ????
Markbass makes bases now too. How would you rate them?
