  • Hi Jason… Good stuff. At 5:45ish the reference to E9 is actually Emaj9. I prefer to use MAJ instead of the slash 7 / slash 9 too, because I'm always mis-interpreting it.

  • I don't see how a sus can be called an add9. Add9 means it doesn't have the 7th. The 3 is still there… if you don't say sus.. then the chord is gonna have a third making it either major or minor. I learned about triads first.. then 7th chords.. then the big one that really opened up all these extended 9, 11, and 13 chords was jazz shell voicing. Get rid of the 5th and play the 1 3 and 7. . it's not that important since almost all diatonic chords have it.. it's kind of implied. Then put your extentions on top of those.. 9, 11 and 13 are the same notes as 2,4, and 6 and are usually( not necessarily) played an octave above. Ted should have definitely put that fact in there considering the last video was was very basic fundamentals of the fretboard layout… can't just jump into extended chords without mentioning this imho… when I learned shell voicings, my guitar playing took off.. they're not just for jazz. Hendrix played 7sharp9. That's dominant because it doesn't say major 7. Dominant is flat 7. So the hendrix chord is a jazz chord it's not minor or sus so it has a major third, a flat 7..that's a dominant 7th shell voicing with no 5th and a Sharp 9 or 2 on top. I feel like I want to write a book on it but saying that sounds like the teacher on Charlie brown. People NEED personalized lessons where they can ask questions and get answers they want to know and things they need to be taught that they don't even know they NEED to learn.

  • All right… Watched the first two vids, subscribed and ordered the book (locally, sorry), and now paused till it arrives. Hopefully a good old hard-copy will force some dedication to this journey and lead me somewhere. Thanks for coming with this idea and see you soon!

  • "Turn & run away". That cracked me up. Which is exactly what happened a few years back when I first bought the book! And yet with your lead now, I managed the D13sus with double fret / 1 finger technique. Feels like progress already. Thanks Jason!
