Good tutorial. Closest thing to the original I've seen.Pretty sure Gilmour uses a volume pedal to get those smooth swells as well.
what cain of strings you use?
Happy 2024 !! Pink Floyd still solid
Very kewl lesson! Great playing!
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing ????
Thank you so much! ????
Oh hey also please what slide /tube is that ?
Thanks Nelly . I know open E on a reg guitar but what gauge do you use here? And just please confirm the tuning !! Great videos !
When watching the Pulse video.David makes it look like he is cupping his hand on the slide
I always thought that was the way you're supposed to use the slide in order to reduce noise or mute the strings behind the slide
I stand corrected
Sorry mate but you cant get away with saying stuff like this. At 0:43 he says pedal steel guitarists, because they they can raise and lower strings with the pedals (true) can play major and minor chords at the same time. INSANE statement. Of course the pedal steel can get major and minor chords easily whereas the lapsteel may or may not require some slants, depending on the tuning used, but still never, never at the same time. I really don't think he meant it quite like that but he said it.
Folks please beware of learning a difficult instrument from someone who has no idea how to play. DO NOT copy this man's technique. You will be doing yourself a disservice.
David used a G6 tuning on Breath and Great Gig In The Sky. His Fender 1000 had the pedals removed and only used 6 strings. It's like your regular Delta Blues Open G tuning but with the high E String staying tuned to E. Cheers…
I hope you are doing ok and are well these days Nelly.
Still enjoying your old videos ????
Made my day mate! Thanks 😉
Hiya, I have a chance to pick up a Hofner 115 similar to yours, would you recommend it. Yours sounds beautiful but I'm just starting to slid.
Ta. Ian
Amazing lesson. This was the first thing I learnt on slide.
Hmmm, I only know of David Jon Gilmour, guitarist of Pink Floyd fame. Who is this Gilmore you, and others, speak of???
What type of slide is this?
nice job thanks
I hope you've learned to block behind your tone bar by now lol but great instruction anyway !
Do you mind telling me the tune for each string please? I have mine tuned to E A D G B E starting with the fattest string to the skinniest. Guess that's how you explain it, I'm new to the guitar world and like I stated earlier, I'm trying to teach myself how to play, not easy!
Thank you!! I'm just starting to learn how to play!! This song is what I'm trying to learn as well! Great instructional video!! Your picking technique helps me a lot!! I was doing down strokes when I should be doing up strokes, makes since! Thanks! I need a teacher…trying to do it on my own is a bit challenging but I have the ear for it!! Wish you could teach me! You seem to like what I like too! Pink Floyd!!!
what material is that knuckle? what material Gilmour uses?
Where you gone Nelly miss your vids. Hope your ok m8

Awesome just what I was looking for, excellent explanation thanks
I don't even have a lap steel, why am I watching this
How funny to see my old lapsteel again. I bought it in the seventies and sold it when I was 30. I still like the tone.
I suggest you to use a thumb pick and finger picks and learn how to play lapsteel. It is a great instrument with so many possibilities. Good luck and thanks for your play
Does anyone know what happened to this guy?
Such a brilliant sound…used in many film soundtracks…awesume sound
It seems easy
Never knew Brian Johnson played lap steel.
Nice one ! Thanks dude !
çook iyi be!
