  • Stumbled on this…listened to it all. What a cool dude, a guitar player’s guitar player. He loves life. Refreshing!

  • Echoing the other observations here. His enthusiasm and attitude is infectious. Need more dudes like Phil! Rock on!

  • I want to know about the PhilX signature SG. I only 'discovered' the SG in 2024 after 40 years of complete disdain. I got a '61 Standard and it became my favorite guitar. If the Phil version has P-90s, that would be fantastic, as i could only justify getting another SG if it has different pickups. I need it to be a Gibson, with Nitro, and i hope it's not cherry red…. What color, Phil? Tell me! Gold only? That might work… I would love a vintage Pelham Blue, though. Oh, nevermind. Just found the prototype on Instagram. Grain-thru gold. Interesting. I do like the Vibrola 'cover.' And the volume knob closer for Get Me a Doctor swells.

  • A key component to the overall sound is volume. You think you got it and you’re feeling it. Then you crank it up to 105 db, and now it sounds bad. Too much bass and gain usually.

  • Great tones! Funny how there are tone chasers like Phil, you, and Andy Timmons. And others (like Joe Walsh) who just plug into an amp and go. I think there's a happy medium. PS- Jacob Deraps does some of the BEST early VH tones out there!

  • I met him after a gig in Vancouver whilst I was eating… He demolished most of my fries and said he had a thing for ladies with a clubbed foot… Such a great player and great dude!!

  • Love Phil. Question, when players of Phil’s caliber do guest appearances, is there a $ exchange for his appearance?

  • “I’m adjusting to it”. That how it’s done. Pick it up, plug it in and figure it out.

  • Just love this guy! And it is true – the way he talks is the same he plays. Straight from the heart!

  • I love the part where he's talking halfstacks and says every sound guy is gonna tell you to turn down.. and then you're gonna pretend to turn down ????

  • True fans of the goat will call him Ed or Edward. Like Alex and Roth do. Phil is also a fantastic vocalist. Sounds like some cocktails may have been flowin’ but that’s not gonna get in this dude‘s way! Would have anything unique in the genre, when I hear that twisted half step clash, I hear Phil X!

  • I soooo agree. Ive played Marshalls since 86 but switched to a Fractal AX8 about 5 years ago to make my rig smaller for gigs. But I just cant get that organic sensitive volume feeling…bothers me soooo much but my back likes the fractal.
