Emmy Lou Harris coverd this song nicely Albert Lee plays a beautiful solo on it tpp
Surprised by how good your voice sounds and how well you performed this song.
I haven't known this song before. Beautiful ! Thanks
A neglected writer and song— thank you so much for this video.
This is great, I’ve done this at open mic a few times, sort of hybrid picking. Basically too lazy to learn the note for note picking, but it does sound wonderful. This has inspired me too have ago at nailing a bit more of the finger picking nuances of the song. Thanks!
Steve Earle: "Townes Van Zandt is the greatest songwriter alive, and I will stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table at tell him that"
Townes VZ: "I’ve met Dylan’s bodyguards, you ain't standing on this table"
Superb ???? where have you been hiding that voice ? ????
Classic indeed
❤❤❤
Wonderful ! For a future acoustic lesson, may I suggest you "Me and my uncle" by the great Mike Wilhelm ? ????
So simple and beautiful
Love this one…thanks so much.
T Van Zandt was something special, like JJ Walker. Another fantastic songwriter to look out for is Tom Russell. Plus he played with a couple of amazing pickers. Gallo Del Cielo will bring tears to your eyes; either from the song, or the mexican-style picking of the guitarist.
Such a beautiful and moving song, wonderfully open to interpretation both lyrically (as in the ambiguous meaning) and musically (as in play it in a way that feels right for you, as Adrian says), and a great way to showcase Townes Van Zandt. Great performance, too, in addition to being a meaningful and helpful lesson. Thanks, @acpg!
Great song, great lesson!
The version of this song at his house with old black fella crying in the background is my fave version. Almost has me crying too. I bought metal finger tips to be like TVZ but Im useless with them,so I'll just use them scratch peoples faces off instead.
Excellent performance sir
Thank you! Love this song.
Oh thank you so much friend
I've been praying for this…… SUCH A LOOOOOOOOONG ASS TIME
So not a minute too soon son
Greeting from Denmark
Great job! Thank you for this. This is the last song I played for my Grandfather (My Guitar Hero) before he passed away.????️????
Merle Haggard, Willien Nelson, Steve Earle, Emmylou and my favourite Hoyt Axton and the rest. Love this song.
Townes, one of the best to do it, thanks for this!
was shocked to see an sm7 up that high… jokes! Great voice Adrian, really suits country music in particular!
Very nice.
