My absolute idol! I love the way he can be so cool about the basics…. Watch a Yngwie video… hahaha he won't even slow a lick down more than a few BPM… John is such a cool guy!
Great vid .what is the name of the guitar
Wich Band play hemisphere?
9:15 what song is this?
Is it just me or do the open B and E strings work with almost anything, in drop tuning too
I literally didn't understand one thing he said, but yes. The fifth power chord.
"Excuse me, do you have any more of that deep black beard dye?"
what happened to his forehead
Great lesson! These chords and licks blew me away!
Randy Rhoads and Alice In Chains love that chord also ???? 2:09
What kind of shoes is John wearing. Anybody?
The Root Power Chord is one of my favorites because it makes the guitar sound really heavy. Fun Fact: Kirk Windstein of Crowbar uses that a lot.
4:25 based on Master Of Puppets
7:00 Riff
7:27 Iron Maiden things

Question for Petrucci mega-fans: John mentioned a "doobie brothers chord"; can anyone remember what the chord is or which lesson he mentioned it in? Thanks!
So, it's not quite true that on a guitar you can only modulate a pitch sharp when applying vibrato. Classical vibrato actually makes the not flat/return/flat/return. And when combined with conventional vibrato to create a circular motion, as most notably done by Steve Vai, you actually get a note that modulates both above and below the fretted pitch.
I wish I liked this because I like him but NOPE
Watching this is like watching god himself descend onto the mortal plane and teach kids how to pour a glass of milk without spilling.
Sweetwater and Petrucchi equals stability and power.
Yeah you know Vibrato, counsin of Beato, not so whinny though
7:50 is "In The Presence Of Enemies Part 2"
It's nice to see how even a player of his skill level isn't perfect, showing that he is only human haha. As an aspiring guitarist and musician myself it makes me have hope of becoming as good as him someday
I learned the Alex Lifeson chord from Jerry Cantrell on "No Excuses."
Awsome awsome teacher
The fucking palm muted fifth below the root chord blew out my headphone drivers lol.
I thought it was an old Danzig video
