Does Nux have FX loop?
I run two joyo amp sims, one for clean one for heavy. They cost $30 each and sound better than the iridium lol
dont like the NUX !
Sound engineers ears, might need xmas tree pulled through mine, but I heard very little difference. My wallet does ha ha.But used Nux Plexi, boogie clone Recto, and the best delay I have used in ages The Konsequent delay! ( compared to my Boss DD3,TC Electronics Nova,Boss DD200) because it had the edge (no pun intended).Nux and other "imports" seem to be compared in the public domain with others focusing on quality control, but I think that QC has move on tenfold since inception. The irony is that Nux will increase in price as it becomes more and more popular. So best to get them now! Awesome demo, playing etc as usual guys, thank you.
????
Whats the use of a modeler? Can someone please explain
if as a guitarist, they pay you twice the price of the Strymon for a single gig, in the minimum, then you're part of their target market, if not, then the Nux is more than enough.
The Vibro-King on the Nux was terrible! As was the AC-30. Done with that POS..
Even just turn the treble down a little on the NUX and it would sound better and closer to the Strymon.
The Iridium’s ’round’ setting is based ob the normal channel of a Deluxe Reverb with the default being the middle control at midday. i don’t know if this helps.
I got the Amp Academy because I was going to do one gig straight through a PA. I used different IRs and got it to sound more or less OK after a lot of playing around and no tweaking once playing live. How does it compare to the Boss-IR2?
Guitar would sound better if you mic'd it
NUX is superb for half its price
Why bass in Nux is rolled down making a huge difference with the Strymon?? Is this a fail??? At least you can match de eq settings if not the IRs… ????????♂️
The NUX has this annoying 4k (from memory) bump on most settings. Unfortunately its graphic EQ doesn't have a 4k band. It responds nicely to dynamics, but I much prefer the Iridium.
Bah! The Sansamp did this in the early 1990s
Jesus, you people are so annoying. Just do a preset comparison plugged directly into a PA and spare us the "afternoon tea" ritual with a British accent. I don't have time or patience for it as do many other busy people, I'm sure. You don't need to keep us here for 29 minutes.
I can tell the difference in sound in 5 minutes or less.
Thank you.
For example, I don't want to deal with IRs. I've been playing for 50 years and have used some excellent amps and pedal and I know my sound. Am I getting it right when you say that you have to futz around with IR to get it sound right? 10 years ag no one knew IRs existed.
I adjust my sound with a simple GE-7 and drives with separate Bass and Treble knobs or maybe a middle boost. I can do it with what I have now. I also have a passive DI which runs directly into PA, and I can adjust for a loud enough and decent sound right on my pedal board. What would be an advantage for me to buy the NUX Amp Academy?
Not a very good review. A clear preference is shown on the Iridium for some reason.
Is it possible to only run the cabinet/ir and bypass the rest?
"Pete" has GOT TO stop talking over you..Because you can't hear what's being said. How about Lee talk – Pete play and zip the lip!
Not a good review for me … compare the same IRS in the two machines please… a Little bit of tweaking is required for the Nux
perfect summary around the twenty minute mark?
I wish you would have given the AA it's own review, without a "Shootout" footing I think you would have had a different response.
I don't have the Iridium, but I do own the NUX. I don't own ANY of the amps in it and I'm unlikely to so what it is copying or how closely is does it is irrelevant to me. In a live setting I have never used more than one amp in a set so again, not a useful function. It does sound good as what I program it to do. I don't know if I would ever want to try adjusting it live. If the knobs aren't in sync' with the preset it could all go wrong.
All the factory presets are crazy aggressive.
I wish they had invested more time in the manual. I find myself looking a tube to figure out the basics. I wish it could run on 9V batteries. Then it could be a genuine DI box alternative for the mobile musician
Nux like a kid
Although I use a Iridium but the way Pete demonstrated the Nux was really wrong because Captain is continuously tweaking the Iridium but when it comes to Nux they weren’t even touching the EQ or the features the app have provided for Low cut and high cut. Overall the Nux is winning the Amp sim race and they are providing more features in terms of amp modelling and processing.
Can someone tell me the point of these when you have an audio interface with amplitude?
Pete thorn did a video on the NUX some time back. Imported 3rd party IR and with a bit of tweaking got great tones.
Can you use the Strymon Iridium with an actual amp? I’d like to have one channel going into a mixer and one going into a tube amp
Have the Dream 65 and the Iridium. Hard to wrong with either one.
Fair enough for an out the box comparison. But as previous people have said, there's no real 1-1 comparison without maching IRs
Out of the box the Iridium slays but in all the forums its said the Nux takes a lot of tweaking and better IRs to sound good.
Owned both as a pedalboard platform for direct to FOH. Both are very usable but the Amp Academy is what is on my board as a result. The Amp Academy breaths and responds more like an amp. The Iridium just lacks and tones are "just OK". Also note, these A/B comparisons are not worth the time unless the IR's are the same in both units. No one spends the time to do that in these youtube comparisons. The factory IR's are an OK starting point but never what you end up using in a live application.
I have used Nux MG30 or MG300 for a few years now. The stock IRS are not good, they are not high and low passed correctly. Which is why there is unnatural low end and that digital noise. I use free IRS and they sound exponentially better. When I compare my pedal setup to an Iridium it's not even close for the Strymon. If you want really simple and for it to sound pretty good stock, then I totally understand why you would want to Strymon.
Nice comparison Can you change the amount of delay (I understand it has a tap tempo for rate) but what about volume wet dry on the effects etc?
I would like to see, opus two notes vs strymon iridium
Would love to buy a pedal from Andertons but I just can’t…After what happened with the Tumnus Germanium I won’t even attempt to do business with them. It’s sad because I love their videos about equipment…Danish Pete is the man! But yea I’ll never be spending my time or money buying from Andertons again. Def a terrible experience.
I have a Nux AA and I used it on gigs and my impressions so far.
1. I uploaded Gods cab IR's to free slots and they sound much useful
2. Mr Z, Vox, JCM800 and Ubershall amps are great.
3. You have to play with IR volume. some IRs sound too loud and make amps to overcompressed and unuseful. I usually set the bar between 0 to 10 db and chop off some bass if it is too much.
4. many amps have sweet spots between 20-50 gain. Unless you want Is this love type singing Les Paul tones and sustain.
5. I combine it with a Zoom MS-100BT multistomp in SNR and Boss OD-3 in front of it and I can play a whole gig with it.
I've had NUX for about a year now. No problem, sounds very good. It has a very good reverb, I can upload my IR there, it has a noise gate. Effects loop and XLR output. I recommend it.
MG-30 review when?
I'm surprised someone hasn't run these pedals through AI to get identical tones through each and then publish those or make the AI a tool
I would like you guys to know that I’m a guitar player and watch your channel all the time. Because of you guys, I bought a Boss product at Guitar Center in San Jose California. I’m sure I’m not the only one with the story like this but I hope all these retailers are thanking you for all the hard work you put in that they get the bank gone. If I lived near, I would definitely buy from you guys. Keep up the great work.
If the bass is too heavy, then I would normally adjust the bass nob to correct it. Since both of them have such a nob, why haven’t you tried it out?
I sold my Strymon after getting the Nux. If you spend the time dialing in the Nux you can get some great tones
What's awesome is that all the problems pointed out in the Amp Academy are all surmountable with tweaking and the right IRs.
The difference is marked – The IRIDIUM wins for me on all fronts from this A/B sesh. Thanks, chaps.
Great fun! Try the high and low cut on the NUX. Low around 108 and high around 3700 – with the AC30.
To be fair to the Nu-x, it doesn’t really come with “presets”. It has amps, which if paired with the right IR and eq’ed, sounds no different to the Iridium. It comes with 10 or 12 (more or less) IR’s from Choptones. Mix and match the IR’ and most of the missing midrange is there.
I have one as a cheap backup to my main rig.
I’ve owned and gigged with both. Both are great. NUX is what I use now. Very good clean tones and way more features. NUX XLR out is such a great feature. As others have mentioned, you will need compression and a high cut to get the NUX to sound right. Then you’re good to go.
