Ian Hill retired his vintage Jazz bass decades ago and now exclusively rocks his signature Spector models. He brings along four of them and strings them up with DR Black Beauties strings. Two of the quartet use the BKB 50 set (.050–.070–.090–.110) and are tuned down a half step. The other two use the lowest four strings of a 5-string set (.065–.085–.105–.125).

Richie Faulkner’s main axe is his signature Epiphone Flying V that has a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fretboard. This sig features EMG 57 and 66 pickups along with a licensed Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo. The V is strung with Ernie Ball Nickel Wound .011–.048 strings and tuned down a half step.

  • Can anyone say or confirm whether Richie's basic demo/interview sound (less the obvious delay repeats)in this video is on a delay/reverb, or are we hearing a room delay from the arena through their vocal mics? These days it seems every guitar or rig demo goes though a tiny bit or a mountain of delay/reverb, and to me, almost anything sounds cool that way. The true test for me is a dry signal to hear guitar or amp characteristics, no?

  • This episode completely changed my mind about ritchie. He seems very humble about his position in priest.

Priest did not start heavy metal music. We all know that was black sabbath. Priest forefronted the metal look.

  • Imagine if that guy from Rage Against the Machines had a pedal board that worked and operated like a Dance Dance Revolution game. No more need for a one footed balancing act . You could run around like AcDc and still activate effects without skipping a beat

  • Hughes and Kettner are my favorite amps, with ENGL a close second. Don't play alot of guitar being a drummer, but the tone those amps create are what I am hearing in my head when I think heavy metal guitar. Everybody talks about the "British" sound. And yeah Marshall pretty good and an Icon in music. Orange as well. But I like the dirtier sound found in German amps, but they are not so much that you lose articulation. Not sure how the Germans do it, just glad they did. Yes they do "chug"! lol (Hands Down the 2 best distortion pedals out there are 1) Walrus Audio Iron Horse V3 or 2) Pussy Melter Distortion Pedal from the guys Steel Panther/ Satchel. Both are excellent distortion pedals – and help give metal music the sound that makes metal kick ass!)

  • I was in Karlsruhe West Germany for a Priest Screaming for Vengeance. Richie could not have been a couple of years old. Freaking awesome.
