  • My guitar hero, Daniel Ash said, talking about postpunk: "you're screwed if you don't know barre chords". So finger torture or not, I have my orders.

  • When playing barre chords on the A string. It's physically impossible to play it the "correct" way with my fat fingers. So I've always played it with the second mini barre, but I never can arch my finger enough on the high E. So I end up more less muting the high E. Any tricks on that?

  • i pressed with like three fingers on top of my index and squeezed as hard as i could and my g string still just won’t ring out that’s the one i have the most problems with it might just be my finger which means i have no hopes for bar chords

  • 6:55 the problem is… yeah the tip of my pinky finger is where is supposed to be, but the rest of it is muting all the other strings beneath it.
can not flex it because that would mean raising the index finger and not doing the bar anymore.
    Hurts to day this, but, pinky, is… just…. not… long enough… 🙁

  • I have ridiculously short fat fingers that just won’t bend the way they need to. I’ll probably never learn to play, but you are funny, dude. I’ll watch your videos for the entertainment factor alone. Thumbs up!

  • You are a Fantastic teacher. I have been playing open chords for all my life and wanted to learn bar chords. I didn't know notes on strings except the basic to tune, which I tune by ear. This was awesome! Still more to comprehend about how we know that the 5th low string on the first fret is E… I guess it's like we have to know that the middle C on the piano is the middle c, lol!

  • How does one know that the root note on the 5th string is "A"….?? Does it have something to do with it be on the 5th fret?

  • You explained the best I have heard . Still can play one but it is just a matter of building my finger strength

  • Came to this video literally crying out of frustration bc I’ve been playing guitar for over 3 years and I still can’t play barre chords that involve more than 4 strings. I’m gonna explode????

  • Sir I’ve play punk and solo music for 30 years. I’m trying to improve in my old age. Thank you

  • holy shit, when you explained that the 6th root and 5th root bar shapes are how the e major and minor, and a major and minor chords respectively are formed, it's like my brain got unlocked and fell deeper to the rabbit hole

  • How do you stop the gaps between finger pads from muting? I've found tips like keeping your thumb further down the fret board work higher up, but not at the 12th

    Nevermind. Just pressed harder…
