STARCASTLE – True to the Light – BASS COVER (Best)

Thank you in advance for listening to this video. My Best Performance* after a week of playing this.
Gary Strater played a very ‘busy’ bassline on this tune and although I’m a good ‘reader’ this is very tricky to sightread accurately;-)
I changed my strings to an old, used set of Rotosound 66 and this is my effort at performing this this seven (7) pages Transcription [212 measures of standard notation — I do not read tabs].
*I finally got it right from 2:21 to 2:51 and from 3:27 to 3:50 and from 5:35 to 5:40 and 4:59 to 6:13.
The late & great American Bassist, Gary Strater is a bassist who, in my opinion, deserves much more credit and acclaim for his brilliant harmonic and counterpoint basslines which season the nice songs by the “Yes like group” Starcastle.

****A big thanks to legendary JEFF BERLIN, whose BASS MASTERY sight-reading practice packages I often use to maintain competency at sight-reading standard notation. (Even though I’ve been reading music since 1972, it is still important to “practice”.) Btw, I started learning to read music with superb bass guitar method and sight reading books published by Mel Bay.

My bass is a vintage Rickenbacker 4001 bass manufactured in May 1973 with its original pickups.
Neck pickup volume at 9, Bridge pickup volume at 10; (NO PRE-AMP USED or Needed)
Neck pickup tone switch at full and Bridge pickup tone at full.
The strings are an old, used set of ROTOSOUND 45 -105 roundwound strings, and the bass is playing through a Marshall B25 MK II amp settings: Bass 4/5 o’clock, Mid 4 o’clock, Treble 5 o’clock.
My guitar pick is a Herco Heavy gauge grey nylon pick that I bought new in 1972.
