2025 just bought one recommended first guitar for beginners, I'm loving it (70yrr old first timer) Amazon $270

Christmas day 2024, here in Seattle. Yesterday I picked up one on Craigslist. Cherry red, black pick guard, ebony fretboard. Pristine condition. 2013, made in Indonesia. The guy through in the fender frontman amp, and a the classic distortion pedal, Boss DS-1. $120 buck chuck. Been playing acoustic for 15 years straight until today. Time to rock. Picking up a Vox AC15 amp after payday. Santa was finally nice!

I think this was the bestest review I have seen about this guitar. Pretty good.
I’ve been playing for nearly 50 years and I picked up a 3 tone sunburst with laurel fretboard on sale at GC for $225 plus tax. I was beyond impressed and just had to buy it. It played so well and was light as a feather. Definitely a great beginner guitar but also great for anyone on a budget. No matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro these guitars are great!

What are the differences between the configurations ?
I had a player plus in that color , it looks great, since then I’ve ordered a squire affinity Strat hh artic white with black pick guard. Haven’t recieved it yet but heard one played and the tones sound great. I hear it’s great for the price.
I prefer the slimmer body of these over the full thickness fender bodies. Just imo.

I’m thinking about getting a new strat and I’ve been looking at squire. I just need a cheap guitar to take with me
Just got mine and I am a bit disappointed, the neck was too flat and buzzing and the overall neck shape is very round, baseball bat-like. I planned on doing a lot of mods to make it more playable, but I might just sell it, the neck feels odd, I am used to playing SGs and LPs, but this is so much different. The single coils are weak and have too much treble, I was very hopeful that this would have some potential, not sure sinking more money into it would do any good. The tuners and bridge are junk, and the single string tree is a known issue, strange that simple little things are omitted.

Do you know what the pickup models are exactly, like how much they cost?
I would like to change them and upgrade, but I'm trying to compare prices from their stock pickups and new better ones.
I realize that I'm late to the comments section, but well done Landon. I enjoyed this. Fender is doing a great job with the Squier line improvements and unique product introductions. I hope this continues.

Yeaah just bought this baby as my first electric guitar. I have the black burst look and definitely worth the money. (230 in Hungary) I use the a Fender champion 20 amp with it and just sounds awesome! Thanks for the great review, now I know what's inside! This is a great beginner guitar easy to play and very comfy for me.
Landon, I absolutely love your videos and enjoyed this one in particular as I am considering making this my first electric guitar. It's great that you do pros and cons also but I tend to get too hung up on the cons and then have a change of mind.
As you say though, as a first guitar, it seems pretty decent.

Landon does yours buzz when you are not touching the stings. Buzz not single coil 60Hz hum. Mine buzzes no matter what position I'm in. Even positions 2, 4 and the humbucker alone. I have other guitars to compare against. I can turn off all the lights and electronics and it still buzzes. I bought online… no one had one locally. I have the worst luck. Thanks!.
I used to have a ‘92 Squier by Fender Stratocaster that I bought from a pawnshop. The only thing I needed done right off was replacing the tuning keys, which I used some black Grovers for (came off a destroyed guitar).
The finish is really nice.

Other than that hideous headstock, a beautiful piece. Opening a Strat pickguard should be sanctioned by Geneve as a crime against piece of manity #Letsfeindeut
