  • don’t just relic it! RELIC IT WITH YOUR HUMAN BODY! this would be an awesome annual check in and in 50 years we can watch your grizzled @$$ play this grizzled guitar that you grew older with. Also, I may be mistaken, but I think in the U.S.the harmony knobs are called cupcake knobs because they look like inverted cupcake inserts.

  • I couldn't find a lefty in Japan of the 'standard' but found a second hand one, unused (!!).in Australia..Magnificent giitar, alas no p90s on lefty. I recently got humbucker sized Firebird on the bridge and P90 in the neck and it is just phenomenal. The Yahama pickups were nice, but way too woofy for my liking. They are also really heavy in Weight along with soumd

  • Two things I hope you will try:
    1. Get a good, brighter sound while on the focus switch and then flip the focus switch off if that’s not sounds harsh
    2. That big metal plate is supposedly made to be a suttle Bigsby-style vibrato and you get that function by loosening it. Try that

  • I get that you didn’t buy this guitar, but I’m curious does it make sense financially for European citizens to order from Sweetwater

  • Yes please, do it very interesting to see, love revstars! Looking forward! So want to see their custom line sometime!

  • Yamaha definitely knocked it out with this series; it's kind of a cross between an SG , a Tele, and a Strat, with their typical focus on the neck and fingerboard.
I'd agree that the P90 versions are the most unique, and that the circuit and wiring makes the most possible of what are commonly limited pickups. My alternative would be to put Railhammer Neuvo /Huervo 90's or Cleancuts in the Humbucker model. The former naturally expand the P90 design, and CC's get a cross between a 90 and a Jazz master pickup, not unlike the Firebird pickup design.( Their Humbuckers are also unique in varying ways as well.)Highly recommended .

  • HOT. ???? I have the standard in Merlot with humbuckers and was pretty immediately blown away. That one you just got is probably the only stock guitar I would buy now and my favorite color ever. I’m working on a Warmoth “one to rule them all” build atm, which will cost about $1500 all told. It’s a Korina Strat body with a 70s reverse Fender headstock roasted maple neck and ebony board, Gibson scale length and with a wraparound intonable bridge. So essentially everything I like about Gibsons and Strats. The body and neck are going to remain completely unfinished because some of my unpainted $99 kit guitars are probably my favorite sounding guitars unplugged that I’ve ever owned. I was waffling on the pickups for a long time, but I finally nailed the best of all worlds when I discovered the Seymour Duncan P-Rails. They’re humbuckers that switch to P-90s and single coils, all with series and parallel wiring. Definitely check them out for your other guitars. Mine will have a 3-way toggle and one each in bridge and neck. I love p-90s too, but I had never heard neck and bridge humbuckers together , both in parallel and it’s the sound I’ve been shooting for the whole time. Amazing! https://youtu.be/HyfBvrnkDBw?feature=shared

Congrats on your new one! You did real good!

  • I understand why people say it, but a P-90 is a single coil. Not every “single coil” is a Fender pickup. Gold foils are single coils too. Rickenbacker pickups are single coils, etc.

We’ve gotten stuck in this notion that there’s only like 3 types of pickups, and all of them come from Gibson and Fender.

That makes music generic. It’s also a shame that Yamaha basically put Gibson pickups in this guitar rather than something original.

  • Soooo cool! This guitar suits you Eirik! BTW I have one too (but the standard with humbuckers) and just might be the guitar I play the most!

  • Theres a nice blue one also pro model with the P90's for sale not so far from me for 1100 €, I'm really hesitating ????????????
Actually it's just the same as this one ????
1100€ in mint state sounds like a very good deal

  • Hey Eirik! Never even thought of modding my revstar but i have a 502 in shop black finish and you got me thinking of changing the pickguard as well. Do you know or recommend anyone for revstar pickguards?

  • You might find this guy’s channel interesting. In this video, he talks about how he really likes the Revstar, but he isn’t crazy about the different sounds of the 5 way switch, so he rewires them to make them sound “better” to his ears. His channel is just great overall though

  • I need a good p90 guitar as well…I only have a 1958 Special and it’s not something I want to play, too nice and old????Tried a Hagstrom swede 90 and that was not a good choice????

  • P90s and fuzz are an amazing match. Love those Revstars for the sound but hate the weight. So heavy.
