It’s not the guitar body shape or any part of the guitar that makes the tonal difference. It’s the pickups that do.
To sound like this, you don’t even need a guitar. Stretch some guitar strings and put a pickup underneath it. Pick the strings and it will sound exactly the same as you would play a guitar with the same pickups.
Man o man… the Tele holds its own in any fight.
Teles sound better at the combos they do, but Strats have a trem and are more comfy to play. Plus, they have positions 2 and 4. So basically, you need to own both ????
Which sounds better is a matter of taste. But the real difference, in my opinion, is in versatility. If a single-coil Strat isn't exactly a versatile guitar, a Tele is more like an one-trick pony although it can be the best pony in the world if you're into ponies.
Depends on what kinda tone you're going for
As an ex LP guy, ( now play an MIJ Tele) Im convinced teles are the most comfortable, versatile, best sounding of the lot….

I like the higher notes on the tele and the lower notes on the strat. The strat had that beautiful Jimi/Stevie twang to it.

I can’t believe the Telecaster sounds that good on the neck pickup. That’s supposed to be the Strat’s strong suit. I say Telecaster.
Strat neck pickup over tele kneck. But tele bridge over strat bridge. IMHO!
