Man, you're so wright about everything you say.. ????
Looks so great… sounds great. What a deal! Medium scale?
Oh….Yeah "an investment" I'm going to use that one.. My wife will surely approve… lol just kidding..
The Squier Jaguar is an excellent instrument. I have one.
I started playing bass in 7th grade in 1966 right after seeing The Beatles here in Seattle. Been playing professionally ever since. I've owned and gigged on lots and lots of basses and … I can't believe how incredible the Squire basses are these days. Onstage or in the studio, Squires are great. I've got two Rascals … a Precision … three Jazz basses ( I just LOVE the lacquered necks and the sexy block inlays) … two Telly's … and a gorgeous Tahitian Coral – colored Bronco ???? IMHO they're worth a lot more than Fender is asking for them. But don't tell.
I bought a 2022 Squier Affinity Jazz V bass from a pawn shop about a week ago. I liked it. So I went on Reverb and found a 1998 Fender Jazz V bass for not too much. So I bought it, too.
I haven’t received it yet so I can’t speak as to any comparisons just yet. But I do like this Squier, though.
I’m a guitar player but I’ve dabbled with the bass for awhile. I’m getting more into it now.
Thank you
There our garbage Bass but for the most part a Bass is a Bass you can make it do whatever with today's amplifiers I can't even finish watching
that bass would probably have been $200 in the 60s. think about that
My Squire 50s P Bass in sunburst is worth every penny I spent on it.
You run your mouth too much never did let us hear what it sounds like
I like Squier basses and guitars and play them most of the time over other stuff that I own
i bought a Squier 70's jazz bass and freakin love it, i still cant figure how Fender can "justify" the cost of an american Fender when they are putting out such great Squier basses for like $400. I sold a bass twice the cost and kept the Squier Jazz bass
Shoot I bought a Harley Benton Jazz because it looked killer with block inlays and bound fret board. I paid $209 shipped from Germany and it's astounding. So I bought 2 more and I'm not even a bass player. So then I sanded and shaped the headstocks like Fender and put vintage logo decals on it and they look Killer. So now, as a commercial electrical contractor I'm asked why I bought such cheap instruments when I could afford anything (reasonably). Well? If I bought a $2000 Fender that looked that good I'd have to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod. Fuck all that. These $200 basses look, play and sound just as good and if not better than a top notch Fender. No shame at all.
My first bought bass was the Gretsch g2220, lawsuit bass, however it still had an aray of good sounds, the only issue I had/have is the 3 ways switch, also I got a 100 towards a future purchase to get a squier strat, because Im recording my one man thing. Respect for pointing out the playability and sound factor grabbing your set up
Great video. And some sick playing!
I've had many basses. I was sure my new Jackson JS and my Musicman Sterling would have the tone I was looking for. It's a Ibanez bass I found in a pawn shop that had the tone I was looking for. This experience is a journey and every player has a different one.
Great video. Thanks.
fantastic you are the first person who I see a video and does not run to compare basses by range. what you do in this video is fabulous because you practically say you are the musician, you are the one who gives life to the bass, it is not the brand, I know that there are basses that the truth is, they are very bad due to construction, but not because of the low price, it is bad you have to feel those strings vibrate and make them part of us and they will do their job thanks for giving us this video greetings from ???????? Panama
Thanks for your honest thoughts J! These Squier basses and guitars are only getting better 5 years later! I’m a guitar player that just bought his first bass. A Squier 5-string CV ‘70’s Jazz Bass in a natural finish. It’s a beautiful beast and feels so pro! At $279, how could I not? Rock on!
I have a Toby by Tobias and a Music man Dark Ray and the sound is different. The MM DarkRay is not cheap but different against the Toby, being both instruments active. I will replace the Toby pick ups for neodymium ones and that's ok. I want it do it, it just a peeve I wanted to do. No harm, no foul. The Toby sounds good just replace the batt often.
I love all of this. The older I get the less I care about brand name recognition. In terms of how instruments sound in your hands, I agree. I absolutely LOVE the aesthetic of a 4 string music man stingray but in my hands it sounds like a cardboard box, and so I won’t go and spend $2000 on a stingray. I’m good with the Sterling version that way I get to enjoy the bass but am not disappointed with the tone if I had spent too much on it. I’m more of a precision bass guy, but I’m so drawn to that stingray look as well.
I got that one – and I love it!! Greatest sound ever! Only flaw is – it's active and I gotta watch the battery.
squiers really arent that bad, especially the basses. the only real issue with the guitar side is mostly the necks and sometimes the pickups but not always.
Very refreshing comments and analysis ! Thank you!
Very well said. Thank you for sharing an honest and objective opinion. It’s all in the hands ????
12 minute video 26 seconds of playing.
I don't need to be convinced or pressured to buy a bass however I have bought many basses from YouTube videos when I "HEAR" the bass being played for more than 26seconds. And check that, I have bought a bass with a short video of it being played. . . but his video confuses me.
My friend hooked me up with a nice Squire Jaguar bass, that he put a P-Bass neck on. It's awesome! It plays well, and he gave me a GREAT deal on it. I was about to drop $700 to $900 0n a Fender P-bass, but I'm so glad I waited man. He did all the proper work to it, and it feels and sounds awesome.
I think I'm gonna get the Classic Vibe version. But yeah, the Jaguar bass seems like a great choice for me with that slightly shorter neck, which gives it a slightly darker sound, and also get me closer to the lower end notes that I prefer as a producer. But some times I want some of that j bass quack.
Nothing like playing a rickenbacker 4001 bass for the price. But way out of the range of price and preference of sound and feel of a great build bass guitars but in a point in your life you will get there like sooner then latter ???? but just keep in mind sound and feel and the style of music you are playing at that time in your life.
Great job! ???? starting with low end bass. But there are not cheap bass guitar out there anymore .less then ten years ago there was cheap bass guitar ???? out there not everything is step-in up on prices do to covid-19 everything is going up fast. I have a bass from the mid 90s squire bass Eva Gardner Bass I paid about $275.00 I Think ???? ???? I think it's worth alot more now? Did you just start playing Bass if sow you sound great and look like a bass player ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? Good job?
