IK Multimedia TONEX PEDAL – It’s Incredible!
In today’s video, I am looking at the much anticipated TONEX pedal from IK Multimedia. This pedal is the hardware version of IK Multimedia TONEX software, where you can capture the sound of your favorite guitar amplifier and then plug into the TONEX pedal to play the exact tone that you captured.
Experience hyper-realistic Tone Models
A revolutionary concept in rig modeling, and the core of the TONEX ecosystem, TONEX software uses breakthrough AI Machine Modeling™ technology to let you model the sound of any amp, cabinet, combo, or pedal, and turn it into a plug-in, all with a sonic accuracy that’s virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. You can instantly play up to 1,000+ Tone Models already available plus browse, demo and download the growing number of Tone Models available on TONEX in ToneNET.
From rare one-of-a-kind vintage amps to modern rigs, TONEX makes it possible and affordable to own the most sought-after gear in the world.

Please, some more videos about the combination Tonex Pedal and the FX from Axe FX3. 🙂
Brilliant review by Paul as always…I need one of these!
What is a really good overdrive pedal out right now I got the boss super overdrive some reason if I turn it up at all it don’t sound like I want
Can I just use this to replace my pedals and with a wah only? It’s just for jamming at home only with backing tracks with my SC20H.
Can you download amp sims other people share online?
wonderful presentation and excellent tones. <how can I find those presented tones on Tone NET, when I lok for "the studio rats" I find only 3 and those are not the ones presented here
thank you for guide :)¨
great channel!
Thanks Paul another great video. Could I use this direct into 2 studio powered monitors?
How are the different amp levels? Are they ask the same loudness?
Awesome pedal! But man these guitars are amazing!
Can these be used as an effects unit ran through a tube amp? Might be a stupid question
So this has built on amps, and pedals right? Can i just plug in and download others Sims?
400 doller is too costly.
@5:12 when you had the overdrive pedal infront of the Tonex, it sounded really great.
Can you please share which OD pedal you used, the settings on it as well as the settings on the Tonex?
Much appreciated!
badass sounds!!!!!
Great videos, did see your videos on the Katana Gen 3 (50 & head) also and I am torn between this ToneX on my MesaBoogie Studio 22+ or change the Mesa for the Katana Gen3 (Artist 100 or Head) an leave it at that………..what are your thoughts?
What is the best setup to compare souds in the ToneX software with the peadal itself? I know how to bypass the pedal but unsure on how to bypass the software in order to just hear the pedal.
Im new to guitar. I have an electronic drum monitor (Simons DA200SB), which has three way EQ, 12” sub, mid and tweeter speakers. Has no gain control. Just input volume and main volume. Could I possibly get good guitar tones using this Tonex modeler and the Simmons as a cab? Sorry if this is sacrilegious, but again, Im new and seeing my options. Thanks.
I’ve looked at several TONEX videos and NONE state or show what the output speakers are. Is it so obvious that it doesn’t need to be stated? Someone answer the question! What are the options, both stage and home use. Thank you!
This is fantastic. Does anyone know which model name was used in the opening of this video, using the Palisades OD pedal?
so, I have a modeling amp I don't like, can I go into the clean channel and use the effects available on the tonex?
sweet guitar sweet tones sweet playing great demo thanks.
That paisley strat is the weirdest but most beautiful strat I've ever seen. Sounds sublime too.
Sounds good to me. How would it compare to the Boss GT1? Or are they even in the same ballpark?
Your playing around the 1:30mark – beautiful and inspiring.
You still using a tonex?
I’m plugging this thing into my amp and it’s ok but it’s still missing something? Im wondering if it’s possible to get stellar sounds if you do not have all the gear and knowledge that these guys have? Mine does not sound like these vids. I’m still on the fence about keeping it…it is interesting and fun to mess with. A lot of captures are harsh, have harsh frequencies, maybe it’s not great with an amp? Not sure.
The sound is amazing yes! (Trough a computer )BUT!
the software SUCKS for Guitarplayers that want to Go Live direct to an real Amp!Too much time spending trying to make sound good that way…..I just tried a Pod Go and it was like a dream to tweek good sound trough my amp with the software at the same time while tweaking. Another thing: Why doesent ToneX include a Seven band Equalizer in the software?? For the Studio its very good but for live use i guess you need an FRFR SPEAKER to get the best sound "Live"
If there are other guitarplayers out there who like to coment Please do , and i will be happy to hear what Your experiense is??
The old school guitar amp is definitely being superseded…
Is the ToneX an interface as well or do I have to buy one of those too I have no idea how to play guitar into my PC lol
These are some of the best tones i've heard. In particular with the p90 les paul. Really tempted to try this.
So this is like a kemper, so you dont need an amp or even cab? Could you go straight into the foh?
I don’t understand; isn’t your fractal axe fx3 capable of creating ir’s from your amps? Why didn’t you use that iso the tonex to get the amp out of the mix?
Can you just play some Thin Lizzy or Pat Travers. Play some 70 and 80s classic rock tones please
I use a 2 amp set up…could i have 2 seperate tones going into 2 seperate tracks on reaper or a 2 separate Pa channels? To explain as simply as i can i want 1 output with my delays and moderate reverb as my main tone then the other output saturated in reverb and no delay….blended to make a huge sound with plenty of definition…. I would guess this isnt possible? Another option would be to buy 2 units and use an amp splitter pedal…thet do a smaller pedal now for half the price of the toneX at £189 … If i get 2 of those i can achieve what i want or is there a way with this unit?
Can this be used with a tube amp? If so, how would i set it up?
Doze anyone no if they sound good into a line aray pa .thk
Can this be used with the Boss Katana effectively? I guess poweramp in but you'd lose all the effects of tone studio right?
Thank you. Tonex or IR200? What do you think?
The AI revolution is only really just beginning. It could be worth holding off – because what AI will make available in a couple of years will transform the whole audio market.
How does it work though amp?
Amazing sounds! Is that Matchless super clean capture available for purchase anywhere?
a stereo fx loop would be kind of wicked and useful.
Hi Paul. Nice demo!! Do captures react to volume pot on the guitar? Let’s say if you are using the gainier capture and back off on the guitar volume?
You get by far the best clean tones out of the ToneX than any video I've watched… and I've watched many.
Sounds fantastic. Incredible price vs. Competition. Shame there’s no fx option to include simple modulation fx.
