  • PAUL – How about a Mahogany Special SE

Blackwood or Limba Special SE ?

Which wood will we hear the most ?

    Thanks .

  • I think this is a great option for something different, and a little unique, that can only be a good thing. I like the difference about it, and may go for it just for that alone. No point criticising it, it’s another option for those who want options. Looks great too, ????????????????????????

  • Thank yoy for your helpful review. The good news is they have a Core model now. It however has thr same pickups as my McCarty 594 so I don't want them Core version.

  • There are lots of comments about this model wishing that the switching options were more standard. I think they are missing the point. All of the 6 options on this model are exceptional. The split sounds especially are unique and some of the best sounds I have ever heard. Top marks to PRS for a great all round guitar

  • I don't know if PRS is still making the SAS in a core model, but I have one with a one piece body and a rare rosewood fingerboard and birds. I'll be trying the SE version tonight.

  • Too many pickup switching options .You alway find the sound of maybe 3 positions and the rest are redundant.

  • Liked your review.. Only a moderate player here. No gig stuff just mostly a friendly , at home get together with friends. Definitely fall into the middle of the road rhythm player. That said. I bought an identical guitar awhile back to what your reviewing. Even to the color. Also have a 339 Epiphone semi-hollow . Ok…now as to the question, if you can help. I broke my wrist in past and have titanium plates / screws etc. Was told I came to within maybe a 1/4 inch of loosing use of my left hand. Well as to anything such as playing a guitar. So not the easiest thing I do. How would you advise on how to lower the action as much as possible . The closer to frets eases the pressure I have to play with . Have tried to adjust bridge and want to set the neck as "flat " … I'm no luthier by any means. Any ideas on how , or what to do. Upon delivery I wouldn't call the action low. Bought from Sweetwater . Person that set up the 339 for me .. moved . Thanks in advance . Not sure posting my email addy online for an answer would be a good idea……

  • There is a Core Special. However you are correct in the fact that the SE is different body wood, it's not semi hollow and the switching is different.

  • Wow all that work to create so many sounds and they missed the one I wanted…the single coil in the bridge and humbucker in the neck… like some blues mod telecasters have… similar to what Keith Richards had in his tele. Again, so disappointing. Really great review though…

  • Curios how this would sound in a metal band or environment? I'm thinking of getting this and I play lead guitar in a metal type band. I just love the maple fretboard.

  • They need to put one of those narrow field deep dish pups in the middle replacing the single coil. That’d be wild. Being said, I like mine.

  • I got a turquoise SAS in '03 and a Blue Mateo in '05. Both are 1-piece bodies. Heart pumping tones and the most versatile axe I've ever owned. These new SE's are interesting.

  • I cannot believe how nice the SE line has become. I almost want to sell my American PRS SC58 and trade it for like 3 SE models lol
