My guitar player had one just like this in 1964. He added a second pickup and a Bigsby. He kept it but bought a Jaguar. Every used one I saw turned orange.
Best way to get the bridge back into place is use a ruler and measure the same distance from the nut to the 12th fret, from the 12th fret to the bridge. That’s where the bridge goes. Then you can use harmonics and just wiggle it into place a smidge if you need to.
Inhave a 1964 es120 and it has a lot of personality. Not the most expensive guitar, a cheaper model at the time, but boy does it resonate and its fun to play. Nearly as loud as my martin unplugged.
I have my dad's 1946 ES-125 single pickup but love my PRS. All my guitars now are so old.
At 07:58 you call the original tuners not as good as the modern ones. But I found the older tuners much better, that is because the post, peg etc are made from brass.
The brass parts have more sustain and clairity.
Love this guitar one pickup or not! Congratulations to its new owner who I've no doubt will enjoy it! ????
That's a nice no nonsense guitar, yes I would rock this one. Thanks Cheers
Beautiful guitar, how does that strap attach to the headstock?
Salutations, Austin!
Nice guitar, two pickups would be even better, but a lot of jazz guitars only have a single pickup in the neck position, and they seem to get the job done.
It has a decent finish for its age!
There is one of those at my local guitar shop that has two P-90 pickups, it has a different finish than this one, but I haven’t tried it out yet, however, I will now, thanks to this video!
Thanks for sharing!
Please have an excellent and awesome evening!
I had a 1956 ES-225TC with a single P90 placed in the middle between the end of the fretboard and the bridge. Bought it in '77 and played it until it was stolen about 20 years later. I miss that guitar SO much. Everything I've seen w/ a single P90 seems to have the pickup placement like the one in this video or alternatively, closer to the bridge. Anyhow, I couldn't pay the high prices people are asking for this kind of instrument these days. But I can dream…. and never say never. BTW I found that ES-225T very inspiring. I do believe the pickup placement made a difference.
Hey trogly have you ever done a review on the ES-137? Custom or Classic. I have the Classic in excellent cond and so flamed on fromt and back!
I have a 59, tobacco burst double pickup with the cutaway. Plays like butter.
Beautiful guitar and sound!
I like hearing the history. Thanks.
This dude still didn’t e mail me back because I ask him how my guitar broke but it okay
Beautiful tone…
I found one a lot like that in the late 90's. Bought it for around $300. Took it to one shop and the guy said that the widest part of the body didn't measure right and that it might be a Gibson neck on a different body. I ended up trading it for a Hamer Blitz shortly after.
I hope you do more full hollowbodies! Lots of jazz cats would love to see all the models documented. I'd love to see a real ES-275, rather than the semihollow thinline version you've shown before.
سلام کورش ????????????
I used to have a Harmony Rocket about this vintage. Those old archtops are where it's at- wish I had that rocket back…
I see one neck pickup I instantly like
I have a '63 TDC cherry sunburst which has faded just like a burst, with only hints of cherry on the top. I bought it for $350 in 1985. It feeds back like a beautiful monster. I installed a period correct Bigsby almost immediately. I couldn't live without the bridge pickup, and neither does George Thorogood.
Like the way you rocked that axe.
So we've recently seen an ES175, now we have an ES125, but what about the ES140? I'd never heard of one until recently, when I saw a member of The Local Honeys playing one – it took most of the gig to work out what she was playing, and I went through several ESs until I worked out what it was.
If i have the chance to play such an ES 125, i play all the riffs made by Ted Nugent……
I have a 1950 ES125 full body. It sounds amazing.
Trogly demoing doesn’t do it justice
