Blackheart handsome devil 15w tube amp review!
So I finally was able to find and replace my blackheart handsome devil tube amp! I used to own this amp and the little giant in mini full stacks with each having 2-1×12 cabinets for each.
I have regretted ever selling them as they just sound amazing and I am so happy to finally have one back in the studio!

Alice Cooper…1971…im 18 ..
I found a combo about a year ago.
Now I also got the half stack and use the combo, wich is half open, as a second speaker, sounds amazing!!
But playing stereo over both and one just a touch cleaner, makes magic!!!
????????????
I took this creation of Pyotr Belov and added vintage NOS tubes, replaced all of the cheap critical "signal path" components with premium capacitors, etc., AND bought and installed a BitMo "Dapper Devil" kit to add the 3-way tone switch that gives you the original tone, a more Fender-like tone with some of the tone stack removed for clearer signal, and the "dirty channel" with a little more volume and some feedback for a more overdriven tone. I've played a bunch of other amps over the years and have NEVER found one I like better! I use the Handsome Devil head with a Scumback or Celestion G12H.
These are great amps. I bought the Little Giant new back when they came out. Then years later when I moved back to Texas, I came across the actual hand-wired Protoype built and designed by Pytor Belov. (I’m sorry, Pytor if you watch this, I should have kept it.) Extremely nice guy though. Back then, I really didn’t know what I had and sold it because I couldn’t get a sound I liked out of it. What these are great for is a pedal platform or for cranking the gain on the amp and playing classic rock loud. These were sold by Loud Technologies which absorbed Crate or SLM, and the designer worked for them at the time. I think he moved to Ampeg later on and designed some of those tube amps as well. So no, I don’t think that Blackheart became Blackstar. The designers that make Blackstar worked for Marshall from what I know. I did come across a used handsome devil later on and put a bitmo mod mod in it. The only thing I didn’t like is that the circuit board is kind of difficult to work on and the solder that was used is lead free from what I saw and have read about them. Anyways, great video. There’s not enough demos out there for these amps, and they are great amps.
I've owned several, and I can say without a doubt they are some of the best built amps ever produced, the cabs everything is top notch! I two combos I'm reluctant to sell cuz the combo cabs alone would cost more to duplicate than what the entire amps are selling for used now! and the amp components are also as good as it gets! I'm gonna build a P2P marshall JTM preamp into it and add a Celestion G12H-100 speaker!
I bought a "Killer Ant" 1 watt head, loved it…then the "Little Giant" when I play that into a 2×12 with Vintage 30's IT ROARS. I am now looking at finding one of the Handsome Devil heads. These Amps are very under rated. Great video
I have had one for quite some time now and I would sell most things in my house before I ever sold that one. It's perfect clean, perfect crunchy, whatever you want it to be.. And the power is impressive also!!
Great, rugged amps.
I have 2 Handsome Devils, 1 head and 1 combo and 1 Little Giant Head.
I just found the combo, mint on Guitar center online last year, $350. I was thrilled.
Still kicking no issues except dirty pots in the ones that I bought new over 10 years ago.
Have gigged them relentlessly.
Thanks, glad you got one back.
Love that these amps are still getting recognized after being out of business for a decade. Great sounds.
I’m curious if you notice on yours that the “middle” control does pretty much nothing? I just picked one up, plays fine but I noticed that middle control just doesn’t do anything. Pulled the chassis and probed everything and found everything as it should be. I have the 5w head as well but don’t have the same issue. I’m curious if that’s just a common thing on these.
Damn your room is filled with gear. guessing you live in a safe neighborhood.
