Skills
That guitar has seen a lot of funk
thanks man!
I always wondered why Cory Wong played how he played. He plays phenomenally, but i l didn't understand why he played a little…….thin. He left a LOT of room whenever he played, and I was confused by that.
But now I understand why he did that. He's like a mid/high range rhythm section member. I dig it.
And of course Cory has BEEN had the right hand on lock. Looka da flicka da wrist!!!!!!
Learned a lot from this.
Brilliant! Thanks for the amazing lesson
My drummer said he doesnt like Cory's tone. Now he's my old drummer.
Great video! Just wondering if you could repeat this video for lefty's…????????????❤️ Come back to Asheville NC!
Thanks for these great tips! How do you prevent the pick from sliding? Do you use the rounded end?
Your right hand motor tip is the best advice i got in 8 years playing! Saw a video about this 3 years ago and it changed my play ????thanks so much!
I got the rhythm down – i just struggle with the voices. Cant lock my left hand on the fretboard
I've been trying to get the right hand "motor" running for years but still can't seem to figure it out
the lesson about changing your voicings and filling the right frequency range is really great
When you are striking all of your strings, how much of your pick should you have out? I struggle with muting, clean string striking, pick moving around when trying to play. I now realize how great strats are
He didn't reveal the bone removal process.
He has no bones in his wrist.
I'm a drummer and i love Cory W. and Mark L. and i watch guitar lessons to understand why they are so cool 😀
I could listen to him all day..
The left hand tip has blown my mind – I have never connected the elegance and simplicity of how funk breaks down the basic chord in this way. So obvious when you think about it, but Cory explains it so well.
Thanks for the tips!
Awesome lesson, seems like a really nice guy, that strats seen some stuff tho…
' right hand motor is running '
A lot more muting and fewer notes
Timing ,…. that's my answer
The mannequin head is totally disinterested in this nugget from Cory
Anyone know what pick he is using?
Cory speaks like he plays i.e. in a sort of funky staccato way.
What he talks about at 1:43 is VERY true. I see people playing funk and not muting anywhere near enough. Two or three strings at a time!
aye aye captin
Funky Wilco Johnson
Todo esto ya lo hizo Ross Bolton hace años, deslike
Plus, a right hand as loose as all hell breaking…
Remember people, even though he shows you fast paced funk leads, those leads can be slowed down and applied across a wide range of R&B and funk like grooves.
He is a serious player by all means!
Listen to players like Nile Rogers, Ray Parker Jr. just to name a couple.
Funk is a groove.
Once you get that bass line and the drums in sync, you can soar.
Funk is R&B's faster paced little brother!
Cory Wong could play in any funk or R&B environment!
He is that good!
Funk and R&B!
Music that makes you want to move!
Cory has the Funk!
Thank you so much
…I wish I could just jam on an A7 like that…. ????????
