Great video. Clear and informative. Thank you.
hey @pdbass have you ever heard a 70's jazz bass with a humbucker against the neck. I have modified a few Squier 70's j bass bodies to house the extra pickup next to the neck. One with a MusicMan style neck p.u. and one with three p.u's (now four p.u's [i haven't made a video yet] [Dimarzio ultra jazz p.u's]). I really like he sound of extra pickups in different positions. The one with four pickups sounds like a funky Rickenbacker clone bc i used two sets of pickups. Hope you can understand me. My typing and English could use fixing.
excellent video man
love this video. watched it 2mos ago when i was die-hard for a flatwound strung p and wanted to dive into classic country and soul. now I've come round to focusing on pop punk and determined to get a j bass with prosteels. lol, maybe both. but either way, i still am getting good, nuanced info Even from an introductory video. great explanation, and my appreciation of the j has only grown.
Sounded like Marcus Miller with that slap setting.
thanks
????????
nah cmon man you dont have the complexion to be using workds like "honkiness"
There´s not pick ups, basses, guitars, drums, etc for beginners, just cheap and expensive instruments for poor people and rich people, a begginer can learn with a professional bass too.
messing around with the different tones you can create is one of the most fun things you can do
Thank you 🙂
I am a beginner so this was exactly the explanation I needed! Thanks so much.
Is that a steeler ??????
Did he just say honky-ness
I heard that Rush line, nice. I'm a guitarist looking to get into bass to broaden my skillset and this video was very helpful. Thanks!
Thanking Jesus for such great videos and you nailed a lot of topics on tone. You always do good.
Can you put a precision split coil pickup in a Fender Music Man bass?
This was super helpful! Long time guitarist here who just picked up his first bass and your examples and explanations were super helpful, bass seems to favor the pickups a little differently than metal guitar and this was super informative clearing that up for me!
You definitely have an awesome teaching technique! I Love this channel.
I have searched for a video like this for a while. Finally found something straight forward and accurate. Thanks! Subbed 🙂
Nice video !
I never noticed I had a pj until this video. I was wondering how to tell the difference.

This exactly the video I was looking for. Very informative. Thanks
