This Toneking Imperial inspired pedal is all you need to get gig ready tones straight into the PA or recording interface.
Here is what Tone King say about the Tri Tube Preamp.
Iconic Tones For A New Era of Guitar Playing
The Imperial All-Tube Preamp pedal delivers Tone King’s legendary MKII amplifier’s ’50s tweed, ’60s blackface, and vintage British rock tones in a compact, pedalboard-friendly format. It features the exact preamp section and phase inverter circuitry of the Imperial MKII amp, as well as Reverb, Tremolo and Attenuation, resulting in a pedal that sings with harmonic richness and blooming touch response.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

Can you give us some Quad Cortex Captures? I'd love to try it out at your favorite settings!
Have you tried it with headphones for silent practice?
Sounds great Paul .. what gauge strings are you using in that poblano ?
Hi! This capture for nano cortex is available to download?
I own this pedal two days ago. Works fine but an issue with the possibility to connect it to a head or combo (I connect it to a Joyo BanTamp Jackman II with EVM12L) : the sound from the TK preamp is to boomy compared what I hear with the headphones ouput. When I press the bypass footswitch, I hear the preamp of the Joyo with reverb and tremolo of the Tritube Imperial as excepted but the sound from Joyo's preamp isn't boomy.
Want delay not tremolo.
Great demo. I’m still confused on this pedals application. Would it be a replacement for an amp sim like a UA Lion, ACS1 or Tonex or is this to be placed before an amp as a Preamp?
????????
After this pedal becomes a massive success do you think Boutique Amp Distribution will make a Morgan AC20 in this same format? I really hope they do.
Paul I hold your opinion in the highest regard. I do what you do to one degree or another. I’m looking for a fender type amp for the studio with an Fx loop. Looking at a Bella. How do you think this stands up for sessions? I love your demo.
No processing help
Yes it sounds great, BUT let's here it in clean tube amp with processing help
Paul, can I use the ToneX 1 in the Bypass Loop ? Please advise
I have the Neural plugin of this that I love. The actual amp looks amazing but this preamp sounds fantastic
Idk if i have ever been more excited for a piece of gear than i was when they announced this at NAMM. Im so happy they decided to release it in April instead of May. Just purchased one, and i cant wait to hear it for myself!
Does the midi selection not save the eq's thats what put me off the freidman.
The tremolo effect is amazing
Absolutely outstanding demo and sounds. I wish I discovered this before discovering the Helix. This is amazing and your did a great job here. So impressed w the tones.
Brands… this is the way to go! Real tubes and going direct? DEAL!
Sounds killer… but then everything you play generally does Paul 😉
Can you plug it direct into your bog standard Deluxe Reverb front end?
Can you load your own IRS in?
Can you load your own 3rd party IRS in? And can you send a mono signal out to the soundboard?
perfect review
Can you tell us your signal chain because it sounds WONDERFUL in the opening. If this is just the pedal, bring it on!
Thanks a lot ! Yave You tried the headphones output ? Is it OK ?
somebody wrote Shawn Tubbs in his comment section that he got the best sounds out of this pedal… not true????
Sounds amazing …. Just ordered one ! ????
Sounds awesome Paul! You're giving me ideas to try on my actual Imperial Mk2 ????. No headphones here but I have been enjoying listening on my new-to-me Focal shape 65s ????
If I buy this will my wife still leave me? Asking for a friend
Sounds good to me.
For a pedal that's a lot. For a tube amp, not crazy at all. Even for a reverb and a trem it's not out of the question. Put it this way, in my part of the world this is going to be about 1/3 the price of an actual Imperial and less than half of what they are secondhand.
More proof the TK imperial is the absolute GOAT of modern amps. Seriously the best. I’m a ToneX guy, but sometimes for playing live, I think the simplicity of this plus a couple effects might be more fun.
I think I am gonna trade in and trade up from my UAD Dream 65 to this TK Imperial Amp Pedal.
How freaking good did that sound? That is a variety of killer low to medium gain tones.
I do wish there was a way to adjust the intensity of stereo panning of the tremolo though… instead of going 100% L/R, it'd be nice to have it be a bit more mellow
that stereo tremolo that's me done for days.
Now give me that in a Synergy module, just a matter of time…
Oh my goodness. That sounds fantastic through the studio headphones. Love it! Great video Paul. Definitely going to get my hands on one. Have a great evening. ✌️
How do you compare it with Axe FX III/FM9 in regards to dynamic response to your playing? I know you love Fractal stuff but do you see this on par with Fractal?
