Dude thankyou . U got bog balls .. you help me and make me feel like im not alone attempting to play and not fingering clear fretts
The 10-11-12 triplets riff sounded really cool, actually
It’s crazy how simple this rhythm is but at the same time it’s quite hard to master and keep it going so consistently. It’s super duper fun when you finally get it down and feels incredibly fun to play
The hardest thing for this riff for me isn't the awkward switch from the D to the G string with the index, but getting those hammer ons tight and punchy every single time. Justin Chancellor and his meaty fucking fingers, man.
Some days I wonder if Justin got inspiration from “For Your Life” by Led Zeppelin for that riff
There is supposed to be a rest for a half step after you drop down to the a string, but good job otherwise
You sound how I sound after 'learning the song' and then 'playing it' after 12 months of practice ????
Just delete your lame videos, there's a thousand other people playing it right
gross, he's using a pick.
This comment section is filled with some of the WORST advice I have ever seen.
Use Tabs, Use a pick on bass. Keep grinding brother.
(In my personal opinion, the bass sounds too muddy and muffled without a pick, the pick brings out the bright tones well enough to cut through the rest of the band enough for the bass to actually be heard to begin with.)
The truly correct way is to play every note with the pick without any hammer ons lol
I KNOW THE PIECES FIT
Schism is the only real rift I know on bass lol. I can't play anything else other than THE beginner nirvana rift and prison song by SoaD
I like it better with the chromatic lol
Try hammering on and pulling off with more force. It wont deaden the note like youre having problems with.
you're never wrong if you have the mindset to learn and improve imho. and it sounded cool both ways tbh.
and my favorite line:
'cold silence has, a tendency to, atrophy any, sense of compassion.'
Shows that good songs come from relatively simple riffs. And it is simple for any moderate player to play.
gotta work on that transition to the D string brother
Bro played it wrong again lol
Nice. Now just learn the change of meter when you switch to A ????
Yesssssssss. The initial blunt striking sounds create what sounds essentially like a Clock and its a beautiful part of it
Honest response, props ????
No one cares ????
Still sounded pretty good man just takes practice, any song by them is going to be a challenge for sure, but how can you get better if you don't challenge yourself right? Good stuff man.
Roll back that tone, too bright
I literally just watched this video a few minutes after I saw the video you mentioned (which is actually the first video I saw of yours) that being said I will sub because of the ability to admit you were wrong and wanting to get better. I have yet to learn how to play a guitar or a bass for that matter. So I am impressed
I have that same peavy amp! One of the best amps I’ve ever heard
You're just trying too hard to play right behind the fret, I'm assuming for intonation. If your finger placement is solid enough that you're not unintentionally bending, you don't need to play so far up on the fret itself all the time. That's why you're ending up with accidental muted/ghost notes. Just saying.
That poor peavey man
Put some speakers in it
It will thank for it
Its such a dope lick.
Lol you discovered hot water…
BOOOO GET THAT PICK OUTTA HERE
This is what makes me wish i played guitar, tho i am a musician just not a guitarist
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes real tool fans noticed it right away and you sir and a well Distinguished man for acknowledging that
POV you play it wrong in a guitar center. They just kick you out instead of criticizing you.
YAY FOR BASS
Just learned this song as well…..Its an easy bass line but this song really highlights the bass….well sht all Tool songs do……Im new to bass but been playing guitar for 20+ years.
You got the first part down, now have to learn the variations that follow the vocals.
Also for that second riff you played, the one that’s essentially the same bass line but moved to the A string; you have to add a beat in there. It’s NOT the same timing as the main riff. Give it a listen. Hope this helps!
The lower section on the A and D section actually has rhythmic alterations!!
Tool is trash. You should throw that base away
TAB ????
