  • This video is very helpful. I have a J-45, and a Martin X myself and when I do live gigs standing both of them can get uncomfortable and I agree that the "plugged in" sound is never as good as the unplugged or mic'd sound. Was hoping the Acoustasonic series might give me what I need for a versatile live guitar both from a sound perspective and also for comfort. You've helped me realize I should go try one out myself.

  • It’s not really a fair comparison though…I have the Jazzmaster, a Taylor and a Takamine. Plugged straight in I’d agree the Acoustasonic sounds the best (by far actually). But the the acoustasonic has impulse responses built in. When I run my taylor or takamine through an IR they sound even better

  • That is a very good acoustic sound in the acoustasonic. I can’t hear what you are hearing. If you want acoustic, you have to play an acoustic. Try a D28. The cheap Martin sounded better in terms of fullness. The acoustasonic is impressive at getting an acoustic tone plugged in. A K and K system would make that Gibson sound wonderful.

  • Acoustasonic is great, I’ve got the tele model and love it but the nicest, fullest and most well rounded sound was the Gibson for me.

I think you sacrifice a little on both electric & acoustic tones with Acoustasonic, but the versatility you gain from just one guitar is priceless for me performing solo with a looper.

  • Piezo under bridge pickups add a “quack” to the sound that makes an otherwise beautiful sounding guitar sound somewhat artificial when plugged in. Fender has electronically mitigated those flaws in the acoustisonic series.

  • The rosewood auditorium sounds best to me on the Fender. Your Gibson probably has the Baggs VTC which is just an under saddle piezo and is nothing special. Replace it with Baggs Anthem SL and you’ll see great improvement. I’m in the market for a Jazzmaster too. Great guitar.

  • Thank you! I'll choose the acoustasonic. Has everything for the gigger and is easier to play for hours long sessions.
Yes, that rhythm was just wormy after the fifth iteration! Ha!
    Thanks again…

  • If you change the pickups in the Martin or the Gibson for an LR Baggs Anthem/Lyric or the M1/80, then they will not sound as real as they would with a mic, but very tasty nevertheless. If you fit onto them the iRig Acoustic Stage, it'll be almost the same as the same guitar mic'd up. If you fit onto them the Fishman Aura pickup/IR preamp or run them as they are into the Fishman Aura or any IR loader pedal with the impulse response of the same guitar, it'll sound identical to the Acoustasonic. With all of this said, I think the Acustasonic is sweet and will be buying mine very soon. I'd like to hear what the all-mahogany Telecaster sounds like unplugged though.

  • Thanks for the video; I’m a lefty, so it’ll be a acoustasonic tele for me (only one they make). I put a LR Baggs anthem on my j45.. it is a game changer
