Properly test is you plug it in
Very important tip: look at the price before you test it. It very frustrating to test and love a guitar only to find out you cand afford it ????????????????
Love the cross brother! ☦️ I’m orthodox myself
You're leaving out a lot things to look for.
the problem is. local shops don't have the demo guitar that i want????????????
Bros got a telespaul
Always check the neck and action! I recently bought a bass online that had a serious neck bow that could not be rectified with the truss rod because the neck was so warped.
Upstroking gets more resonance out of the strings. Listen for intonation if the harmonics sound in pitch with the open tuning
Thanks
ME: Strums it. Loves it. Plugs it in. Crackle in the wiring and cheap pickups. Toggle buzzes like a hive.
I've been playing Electric since 1977.
Which I still do. Then I went to Memphis in 2019 then decided to buy my first acoustic when I got back home from Memphis to Florida.
I went into Sam Ash in Clearwater, Florida, and said I'm not going to think about price and I sat down and played 3000 dollar Gibsons, and expensive Taylor's and Martins, and many more.
The I see this Epiphone Hummingbird Pro, so I grab it and immediately the tone was beautiful sounding like a symphony of notes ringing out.
So then I go back 2 different times and play all those expensive guitars again just to make sure I'm not going nuts because how could a 375 dollar guitar sound better then a 2000-3000 dollar guitars ?
I grabbed that Epiphone again and wrote a song in Sam Ash on the fly and bought it ASAP !!
What if it's your first?
That's pretty cool, Found out.
That Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers would pick up a Les Paul and tell the people that he was going to walk into the bathroom with it, and that's how he picked up his Les Pauls
I recently got a deal of a lifetime washburn Oscar Schmidt and fender front man amp and a zoom petal for 70$
I'm saving up for guitar thanks for the advice
What guitar is that, It’s beautiful
You are correct. If you love it you'll play it plugged in or not.
That’s how I do it. And at some point you get a feel for it, because I use 11/48 strings, but most guitars are strung with 9/42’s. And the ‘magic’ is not always happening with 9’s. But still you’ll be able to tell what’ll happen with heavier string on it. I’ve never been wrong. Well….. ALMOST never. ????
So simple and so true..
That's a telespaul
I love your orthodox cross ☦️ God bless you, sir! You have a great guitar method
My second guitar was going to be a Gibson SG, had it ready to go and everything and even played multiple SG’s there, but I just wanted to make sure it was the right decision, and so I went out of the room where all the expensive guitars and amps were, and I saw this PRS, not hanging with the other cheap guitars, but on a stand sitting next to an amp, I took it in, played it with nothing but the guitar and my pick(and fingers), the cleanest tone basically, it felt so much better, then I plugged it in on those fancy 2000$ fender amps, clean setting, and I fell in love, it tells me when it needs new strings(intonation goes wack) and it feels like a great guitar in my hands, and it rings like wind chimes! Safe to say I got that sucker, still a pretty penny but not even close to an SG!
Have them run a CREDIT CHECK also lol!!!!! I KNOW That lol!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip
????????????????????
I play the first bit of pinball wizzard. Works the same way.
Woah, is that a tele les paul
Maybe this is an even better tip for acoustic players… i dont play electrics, at all really, but every time I try out a new acoustic, I let a couple cowboy chords ring. It can help train one’s ear to decipher between tone woods and point them in the right direction for the perfect axe.
Have a Harley Benton DIY kit & had this problem until I got the neck to fit properly, now the guitar sustains for 20 seconds odd unplugged & plays phenomenally well for an 80 kit build!
Is that an orthodox cross your wearing ?
