Here is my honest opinion about what I think of the Marshall Code 25 digital modeling amplifier. This is my first experience with the Marshall Code amps and I have to say it’s not bad if you’re into higher gain sounds.

  • Found one brand new in the box for $150 AU yesterday at a pawn shop. Considering they sell new here for $350 I'm pretty happy. Not sure if marshall have done more on the software side but its much better than some of the earlier reviews suggest. Not $350 good but still good

  • The lead tone was smooth and almost analog sounding…not brittle, glitchy, and harsh like other digital modelers.
Thanks for the great review ????.

  • Great review. Thank you. I bought this for all the excellent sounds you can program and because it is light and portable. I use the headphone output to plug into the PA, so it is incredibly convenient and gives me all the sounds I need for our performances.

  • I've acquired a Code 25 some years ago, but I had to move and left it untouched. I'm returning soon to my former hometown and this video not only made me happy about my purchase but it is a good reference. Thank you!

  • I’ve had this amp for 6 months and I’m completely satisfied with it, I’ve gigged it and it’s loud enough on stage for most gigs. Love the phone app for changing the settings, basically it’s got everything I need in one extremely lightweight box.
I’d definitely buy it again if I had the choice

  • I turned my EQ off on my phone, but still getting a muffled sound from the amp or how you have it set. It's lacking a bright definition. Or you have your guitar set to only one pickup, neck. But, it just sounds muddy. My phone is a 2024 so it's not messed up. The Fender sounded a little brighter but doesn't sound defined.
I know, it's a practice amp – I get that. The definition is blah

  • My dad bought me the AMP for christmas! And I discovered a "USB-thing-port", can someone explain me how to use it and how it can be used?

  • Great demo! Just bought this for practice but haven’t got it yet. Looking around YT you see mixed reviews. I play a Marshall SLP at gigs and rehearsals.

  • I have the Code 100 Head paired with a Laney 212 Cub Cabinet. When playing through an extension cabinet (or through the combo speaker if you have the combo model) the "CAB" should be left off. The cab simulation is only for headphones and playing through a digital interface. Marshall doesn't make that clear in their manual and all factory presets have it set to "on" in the default mode. So to get a good sound I think you need to start with the cab model turned to off and check the noise gate setting (too much gate makes it sound sterile with no "character" in my opinion). Still trying to get a "natural" and "full" sound out of the amp…it's been a tedious task as I'm a bit new to this stuff and apparently the resonance and presence can make a big difference so I need to mess with those.

All I really want for now are five kick-*ss pre-sets so I can jam rhythm:
    1) Clean (w/ a bit of chorus) (as if I EVER play "clean" lol)
    2) AC/DC (Back in Black song/album)
    3) AC/DC (Highway to Hell song/album)
    4) AC/DC (High Voltage album)
    5) A generic heavy metal guitar tone.

Finally, I want them all to sound as good as when I play through my Engl Rock Master lol.

  • I think the Marshall tones on the Mustang actually sound better then on the Code…and the Fender tones on the Mustang are terrible. But overall, I prefer all the models on the Peavey VYPYR, and I have the VIP3. It has a lot of bugs though. Too bad! But it responds better IMO, and the dynamics knob is sweet and adds a lot of spongyness to the feel which is cool! A lot of people complain about not having a DI, but it does if you utilize the headphone out. But it does add speaker IR, though can be bypassed by pulling the plug out halfway, or using a mono jack I suppose? I haven't actually tried that. I prefer the speaker IR. Then I see people say…"turn the speaker IR off", but if you record and utilize speaker IR, what is the difference between that and using it through your PA? That makes no sense to me, to say turn it off when you play but use it when you record. If you like the way it sounds, keep it on…that's what you will hear when you record anyway so why not use it if that's what you like? Personally I prefer it. It gets harsh without it. A lot of times they put in too much sub bass tones in the models, so I go into my Soundcraft ui24r and tweak the EQ till it sounds and responds the way I want. Kinda wish the T. Dynamics knob was part of the patches…but I suppose that may not be possible? Anyway, I had to switch to a silent practice space so this was the route I went for a while. Now I use a pedal with IR's and am impressed with how far the digital stuff has come. A whole lot better then the stuff I had back in the 90s. I mean, night and day!

  • hi.. I don't understand the sense of the function Power amp and Cab in front of the panel, since there is no Line out to go direct in a mixer and has just it's external cab.

  • It's a piece of crap. Not a good gigging amp unless you have the programmable footswitch. And God forbid, if you're using the phone app, you don't lose signal….happened to me…was playing praise and worship and it was a soulful worship song…settings were ambient, clean…..lost signal to me phone…lost my settings….went from clean soulful worship tone…to a fully distorted Hendrix tone….mortified…….Line 6 is a better modeling amp…..

  • The App has issues. Outside the app I can connect to Bluetooth. But inside the app I cannot connect to Bluetooth
