Pedals and Effects: Red Muck Bass by JAM Pedals

This past NAMM, we had the pleasure of meeting the crew behind JAM pedals! Word quickly spread through the convention center that Nick and I had to check out their booth ASAP. When we finally made it, the first thing that caught our eye was all the amazing hand painted artwork on their pedals. JAM pedals meticulously handcraft and paint each and every one of their pedals, and their lineup is magical. I was told that their “Red Muck Bass” would replace my Sovtek Big Fuzz, and well, they’re not wrong.

  • I picked up one of these guys recently alongside the Rattler Bass. Between them they can cover so much ground. I had three ODs and a fuzz on my board but now it’s just the two Jam pedals and I feel like I can achieve more variety, even on the fly, with half the pedals.
They also do some of the coolest packaging of any pedal manufacturer!

  • There´s only one man that gets a Muff to sound so clear and articulate. Get well soon Juan!

  • I agree with Daniel O'Neill the Red Muck Bass sounds a little more articulate and less flabby than the EH Sovtek Muff. I would grab it for sure. Thanks for the vid Big Juan! Glad your jamming live with Manson. Can't let Trent have all the fun with having Pino on past tours, glad to see Manson getting a big league bassist! ;^) Love the pedals and effects show as well, long time watcher! I also tried to go midi with Disaster Area midi controller for my Strymon Timeline(why have a Timeline for a bassist….well why the fuck not?)but couldn't make heads or tails of the fucker…so good luck! Love to see a gear rundown for Manson!

  • Jam Pedals are THE SHIT. Jannis and Emanuel dropped by my studio a couple of years ago after winter NAMM 2017 and we did shoot-outs with some of my much loved, carefully curated vintage and boutique faves. When all was said and done my previous (and very posh) wah, fuzz, and comp pedals were knocked off my board by the Jam Wahcko, Red Muck, and Dyna–ssoR.

  • You got the country right but wrong company! Crazy Tube Circuits is the one from Greece you should check out! Unique designs and sound not some copycats

  • Would you guys ever consider doing a shootout between the Sovtek and the new EHX Green Muff, the Way Huge Russian Pickle and any other green Muff clone you have at hand? Would be really interesting to hear them in comparison with the real one.
