Been playing bass for 10 years now, it's been about 7 since I've first seen this video. Still the best video on slapping I ever found on yt. Hopefully Mark makes a new similar video with a different riff, maybe add something new he picked up in the last 11 years that he could add ????. 5:00 a lot of fills over the "basic" practice groove
5:50 octave patterns
7:47 open string hammer ons+octaves
10:23 muting + slap pop machine non stop
13:20 hammer on palm mutes
I'll learn things until 16:20.
Although this lesson by itself is enough to keep you busy for a year unless you're already good at bass.
16:20 machinegun triplet licks (very flamboyant)

Love that you show the technique and touch upon the patience and practice needed to develop the skill. I was never interested in slap until recently. Unlike you, some "teachers" showboat and then make you feel like an idiot that can't just pick up the bass and do it like them! Thank you

Can you let us know what effects you have? And possibly the exact make/model? And furthermore specific settings? I'm guessing medium/high comp with quick attack and chorus. Thank you.
It's a good lesson, however, you play the second bar differently from the slow version to the fast version. In the fast version you mute 2 notes that you didn't mute in the slow version.
This was by far, the MOST helpful video to learn a variety of slap techniques! Great video!!
