Fender Mustang LT40S (Cheap Practice Amp)
Fender Mustang LT40S (Cheap Practice Amp)
First off, sorry about the problem with the focus on the main camera. Don’t know how I didn’t notice that earlier.
Today we’re taking a look at the Fender Mustang LT40. I really liked the LT25 that I reviewed back in the day, so this should be really interesting. What is it? Well, it’s an affordable tabletop practice amp for guitar.
Let’s see if it’s worth the money.

Lt25 might have a bigger speaker while being cheaper, however i've heard it has a horrible back tracking unlike Lt40s so my choice would be the Lt40s
You can gig with this amp I use one in church loud enough to keep up with band
great playing bud ! i have the 25, love it, but got this one as well for traveling, same set up just wanted the smaller physical size
Hey Elmo, does it act like an audio device when connected to the computer using USB? Is it possible to play back a song, via USB, from the computer to the amp, like a backing track?
Thanks in advance
Fender Mustang LT40S vs Boss D-cube Lx, which one has the best sound?
I was surprised by the addition of the 40W version… The LT-25 was pretty loud, the 8" speaker was decent, and I couldn't think of any reasons why you'd want a more expensive LT-25 with 2 smaller drivers just for a bit extra wattage.
When I upgraded my LT-25 I moved up to the GTX100. Sure, it's overkill, but I don't think I'll be needing anything capability-wise beyond the GTX100 and that 12" Celestion driver really sings… I did see a youtube video where a guy took his LT-25 and dropped a new 8" Celestion driver in it, and it changed it immensely. The stock LT-25 was good, the LT-25 with a Celestion driver upgrade blew the LT-40 out of the water…
Nice
Elmo what do you think of the fender champion ii amps?
Sounds very good to me.
Whats better this or the spark 40
Is it my imagination or is he using Paul Gilbert's tricks?
This amp is low cost and a LOT of fun. Sounds great and is loud for a small venue or gig.
Not sure why ya don't like it that much Elmo, but it is 'your' honest opinion and I appreciate that.
The LT40s was only $20 more on a sale than the LT25 so I am very happy with my purchase
Hey man have important question so what you think it's better or u chose between this and black star idcore v3 20 I'm appreciated if u telling me cuz I'm get one
Bass is boxy, but the rest sounds good.
@mrpolevaulter is the 50 watt version get much louder than the 25?? Amazing has a 20$ difference currently between them.
Thank you mate for wonderful feedback. Finally ordered this after watching this as I love blues. I do own a Katana 50 Mk2. This will be a great addition. Really appreciate your unbiased reviews. May god bless you
got mine hooked up to a stageright 611800 with a zoom g1x4 also
I will use mine with my solo act ,while looping use two clean amps and one raunch absolutely blow away how great it sounds❤
I just bought this great amp ( May 2024 ) Amazon Canada $280 . Easy to carry around and easy to use – sounds amazing . ✨????????????✨????????????
The LT50 has line out and makes a lot more sense to me. But, as a table top littel amp the LT40s is nice in a strange way ????
If it makes some Fender sounds I could live with that ????
Two 4" speakers ? Hard to believe. What brand of guitar is that ?
I want begin by saying I genuinely appreciate the review. I had to watch 2x bc I couldn't focus/stop admiring those fine, fine jorts you're bravely, unapologetically rocking. As a TN hillbilly, it warms my heart to know redneck is worldwide. In fact, it's more than any place, it's a statement of character, and it knows to fear or nationalities/boundaries. Much love, Y'all! On to other, less heartwarming matters: I had a spark to tote w me on the road/working. Something small, lightweight, headphone ready, with tone I could shape to my taste and fill in the abysmal soul void of "man if I only had my pedal board????". The other "extras" like di recording, downloadable content were certainly a welcome perk but the idea of the sparks 3 diff choices of "AI intuitive DRUMMERS and generated rhythm/backing tracks" I thought this might be what finally made me not miss lugging a tube amp w me. It was great to Bluetooth as a portable stereo. The speakers were remarkably powerful and top tier audiophile quality that I would rank on oar w bose. That being said, I could barely get a guitar tone I could tolerate. If you're all about dry crunchy higain numetal-toed shoe gazing hi-djinx, it's probably great. For country, classic rock, blues, anything typically played thru a fender amp, it was the absolute cows eating green spring grass
$H¡+$. My opinion. Yours might vary. The drummers and rhythm tracks would have been better and more accurate on keys/chords if a band of deaf chimps that have only been playing bass/ keyboard/drums for 2 weeks and only playing together as a group for 2 days and haven't really "came together/found the pocket" as an ensemble just yet. I do believe I agree that I will just get the 25. It's cheaper and I can't decide why but I need to side by side what each model does I suppose.
I bought this Amp you prompted the question who is this Amp for? My answer is someone like me I live off grid in a 12×12 bunk house its perfect size to put on a small table and plenty loud in a well insulated sound room perfect for a novice player as a practice Amp to get acclimated to some simple sound tweaks. I'm quite pleased.
Though it would be nice if it had a mobile power and Bluetooth setup to patch drum mix through even still I can do that through the aux or just buy the beat buddy pedal.
State-side I was able to pick mine up for $200, with tax it came out to about $212. Even if I had ten, I'd buy another.
FENDER CLEAN SOUND IS #1 2ND TO NONE . MANY PEOPLE prefer a clean sound as opposed to raunchy overdrive. Glen Campbell was one of the best guitar pickers/shredders with only a clean sound. Glen Campbell would put metal guitarists to shame . True talent needs no fuzzy overdrive to sound great !
Hey Elmo, I was thinking about getting the lt50 model, think that would be a good choice, since you liked the 25 version?
Better than Yamaha THR 30 II (which I just didn't like at all, horrible effects in my opinion)?
I can't understand why Fender is not equal to or more than the sparks 40 watt amp, Fender sound effects suck, the Sparks 40 amp will blow you out of the water, Fender should have at least the same sound effects options as the Spark 40, shame on you. Fender you should quit sticking all the money in your pocket, start making your customers happy, and you should start doing it soon before you go out of business..
Hi, I'm thinking to buy this amp to play with a telecaster instead of the lt25 because I notice it sound better when playing with a backin' track. The "hum" noise you showed us on the video is using the overdrive pedal or the native presets of the amp ?
Why is everything in HD except your head?
how to make a good distortion in this amp?, tell me the settings and the best effect please.
