PedalPalFX PAL800 V4 GOLD – Get JCM800 To Slash Tones without a Marshall!
Today on Addicted to Gear, we’re checking out the Pedal PAL FX 800 V4 GOLD Overdrive—a boutique pedal made by PedalPalFX that claims to bottle the raw power of a hot-rodded Marshall JCM800 and serve it up in a compact, gold-plated enclosure. But does it live up to the hype?
If you’ve been chasing that British amp tone, especially the legendary JCM800 sound, the PAL800 could be the overdrive pedal you’ve been waiting for. Whether you’re into classic rock, metal, or blues, this thing packs some serious punch! Did we mention the Slash mod? Yes, it’s got that too!

Hi Tony, great review! I have V3 and agree with what you said, Marshall in a box.
I have the v3 and it's incredible . I really prefer the look of the v3 too.
Sounds good, I like it but $320 is outta my comfort zone.
Good rundown. Thanks Tony
I own 3 pedals( 2-NotaKlons v1&2), and a NotaDumble v1. All still in the shipping boxes unassembled. ???? My Zoom multi-fx box makes me ☺????????. Sorry I missed Sun. show.
Can it be boosted with an SD-1? I purchased the Bogren bad boy and it s an instant tone for me. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for this amazing review! It's incredible to think that the sound was coming from a Fender Princeton. Just like you, there comes a time when you forget you're playing into a Princeton, just awesome!
Thanks again for taking us into consideration and for your trust in our brand. Keep on Rock!
Luis.
The builders used the amps schematic and merely use FETS to replace the tubes. The best part is they BIAS the FETS by hand to match the sound of the real amp they have right there in the shop. There is an old video of the V.3 pedal put thru the Pre of an 800 amp by The Tone King where he A/B's the amps Pre with the pedal. Zero difference!!! I use mine left in the #07 channel as I only use my pedal for Crunch. This pedal is my _ 'In case of Fire' grab me, lol I bought version one in 2016 and I still use it but I stack a Comp with a pre on it and use it as my second lead channel.
Hit and miss for me. There were some tones I liked, but others didn’t really stand out.
I don't believe it. A pedal where you can actually descern the difference between settings when switched. Great review Tony!
