In this week’s episode, my friends Jamie Stillman of EarthQuaker Devices, Matthew Farrow of Alexander Pedals & Disaster Area Designs, and Brian Wampler of Wampler Pedals attempt to choose the greatest pedals of the last twenty years — the last millennium, if you want to be a little dramatic– from the year 2000 through 2020.

1. Overdrive/Distortion – Fulltone OCD Ge – absolute "tube" bliss every time it comes on at 18v.
2. Fuzz – JHS Bender – a timeless classic.
3. Time – Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master – This pedal alone can make me spend countless hours with my pedalboard.
4. Modulation – Walrus Audio Julia – the always on Julia staring from the abyss.
5. Compressor – Xotic SP Comp – love Keeley too, but sorry, no space.
6. Weird/Other – No pedal is weird except if it is TC Helicon Talkbox Synth
This was a super fun video and I'm not going to survive now
I like the Gieger Counter.
I don't know many pedals but here's my shtick:
Best overdrive: I love tube screamers, but especially the super overdrive from boss and its affordable
I don't know any fuzz but I do love the sound of the fuzz face and tone benders
for time, I really enjoy Boss' DD selections but specifically the giga delay
modulation is the CE-2 or any exact replica or version because chorus is the best
compression, either an MXR dyna comp or a Keeley.
for weird pedals, I think what wins my vote is more like a weird setting than a pedal, I like to turn the time and wet on my delay all the way up to make a ring mod sound that makes a ds-1 sound canned its crazy
Everdrav! ????
Yo shout out to your production team. Killer work on the content.
I remember Josh from high school, he was always into guitar tone and kinda geeking out on it. We would swap pedals and he’d mod them and have me be his test dummy, I remember gettin my hands on a couple klons and he tore them apart and made one super Klon. It sounded insane!!! None of this is true however.
The Walrus Audio Silt Harmonic Fuzz sounds like Hawkwind to me.

If any pedal earned the title of my all time favorite, it's gonna be the WMD Geiger Counter. It's the only pedal I ever regretted selling.
I’m gonna buy a miku and when I jam with serious musicians and they nod at me to take a ride I’m gonna stomp down on miku and have a very serious look on my face
Me like Miku Toooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
The Miku sounded like a chicken
It would be cool if: JHS made an episode where they went through their pedal suggestions on their website, then asked people to somehow vote on what they would love to see be created out of the top five. Then you can do a limited run and make everybody cry.

Loved the video . Also you are really creative in the way you craft your riffs and also the way you present your videos. The paper cutout as a part of the chain was hilarious ????. All the best team JHS. You rock.
Bought bunch of pedals in the 90's ,
Today's pedals actually do something, not like yesterday .
I don't have pedal picks (and I'm four years late to the party) but the best album to me has to be 2001's Blackwater Park by Opeth
Robert Keeley? He’s just across the state border and a legend! Would have been a great +1. Seeing what engineers and musicians inspire them and they love, inspires me as an engineer and musician for what I love, PEDALS and jamming!

in 2024 there are a lot of great options and I haven't tried a whole lot. But those above are my favorites of the ones I have tried. I really haven't tried many weird ones, but the latest amp emulators seem to fall in "other." I kinda want to try the Ross compressor pedal, and the Fart pedal. The chorus effect on my H&K Attax 200 is my favorite always on mod effect. I use the Source Audio Collider for time effects any time I'm playing stereo. Fuzz runner up is the Behringer SF300 although I pretty much only use it on the boost channel. Finally, my second favorite/most used overdive/distortion is the Walrus Audio 385 which is an always one boost/dirt pedal at the front of my chain. I love using the 1981 Inventions DRV, but it's not quite an always on pedal for the music I play.
I just found out that my guitar has a middle pick up and a tone knob! But I still love pedals ????
Dist: EHX Glove
Fuzz:Rainger FX Dr. Freakenstein Dwarf
Mod: Paradox FX Futura
Comp: Nux comp
Delay: Nano Deluxe Memory Man
Weird: Fuzz Factory
Overdrive/Distortion: drive Prince of Tone / Distortion: Famulus red witch
Surprised nobody chose Zoia. I can understand why people find it intimidating and don't even want to try to use it – it's hardly the most user-friendly pedal – but it's the most ridiculously deep pedal ever invented that can allow you do an entire universe of things that nothing else can.
I feel like i own some of the best pedals you can get – i regularly hear Josh play a Klon, and think to myself "that's ok, but my drive pedals are more to my liking" or "i can make that sound myself with my $30 drive pedals, and my Mesa Boogie Transatlantic 30". There's very little that's "sacred" about any individual pedal. I have a $30 Rat clone called the Donner Dark Mouse – I bet it's so close that 50% of guesses as to which was which would be wrong. I have the $30 Donner Morpher distortion, it sounds like the mean average of every 80s hair metal guitar sound. It's amazing, and it's $30. Best pedal I've ever played, fairly recent? Would have to go with Azor Spring Reverb mini pedal, it's digital, but it drips like the real spring reverb in my Mesa. Amazing layered with the amp verb And my Hall of Fame (v1) with a downloaded plate setting.
The Boss Tera Echo is the best pedal in the world
13:54 – I should say 'I hate to be that guy' but it wouldn't be true. I love being that guy! This century started on January 1st 2001, not 2000, and in your description you say '…from the last twenty years from 2000 through 2020.' Well… 2000 to 2020 inclusive would be 21 years! I'm just going to assume you meant 2001 through 2020. So… the DL4 actually misses out by 14 months, not just 2!
And that's why I have no friends. ????
KOOOOOOLLLL
My favorite record of the last 20 years gotta be tranquility base Hotel + casino
A record.for the last 20 years is soooo hard to say, just a band is hard to say but 3 albums I absolutely loved and changed me are The Suburbs – Arcade Fire, In Rainbows – Radiohead and Songs For The Deaf – QOTSA
That miku thing is soooo junky hahahahaha
