It's called an acoustic upright bass not upright acoustic bass
Don't call it a bass guitar
I have a cheap one my son bought me about 10 years ago. I play it at home more than an electric. it's great to practice on because it makes me play clean and the neck is so big. the old jbass feels like a little weapon when I pic it up.
all yall need to look up a bajoloche
Fender makes a banger of an acoustic bass. Action is excellent. Unfortunately, action doesn't stay great. But you could just buy a new one every year or so ????
Was that Danny Sapko?
A wild Danny appears!
I'm a happy owner since 1981 of a 1967 Hofner Senator which I converted to a fretless and replaced the machine heads.
I primarily use acoustic bass if I'm playing solo. I love it.
I wasnt a huge fan at first for all the reasons above. For me the key was to stop trying to play it like an electric bass. Its a completely different instrument and really needs its own style. I play a lot of counterpoint and counter melody and it really shines with that style. Its a really good melodic bass instrument. You've gotta tailor your style to the instrument.
Stop playing it like a standard electric. It helps greatly. Think of it as a sort of in between of guitar and bass. They're really good for country, blues, latin music, and jazz. Surprisingly so with most pop too, if done right.
In my opinion by a fire, in lower sound situation like you're saying you can do bass line and percussion, the slapping sound is nice in my opition, definitely a little buzzy. but that adds the campfire feel of it imo. Edit, also i have a pretty high priced one i found on market place for cheap might just be well made. i rest my thumb on the neck personally, still get a good tone
Unplugged, they're not loud enough to have an acoustic session with people when there's two guitars and other instruments
I just ordered one, I don't want to play it without an amp, I mostly just want it for playing by myself, I already have an acoustic guitar and the bulkiness might be similar (I also bought a rather slim acoustic bass) and I quite often play my acoustic guitar finger style (bc I'm a bassist and just inherited that guitar) so I think I'll handle the no thumb rest thing. Now the pros: I loooooooooove the acoustic bass sound just soooooo much! I don't need a different sound, if i want a different one I'll use my electric bass. I don't care that so many people don't like them. I need that bass asap! I'm so excited!
Output
I have sn ibanez acoustic bass and it's great for messing around at home. The cons are there for sure but for what it is i like it. Especially since i started playing around with bass chords.
No thumb thingy? Play with a pick
Alice In Chains says yes
I got a of thaa in mine
Dang. I think the cons outweigh the pros for me.
