Daily Jazz Lick #48 ii V i (Phrygian Dominant) #jazzguitar #jazzimprovisation #guitarlesson

This phrase uses the Phrygian dominant scale (also called gypsy scale) to play over the V7 chord. The Phrygian dominant scale is the 5th mode of the harmonic minor scale. It is a Mixolydian scale with the b2 and b6. Transpose it to all 12 keys, practice it at various tempos, change the articulation and accents. The more jazz vocabulary at your disposal, the better your improvisations.
