I like Al kind of filthy pedals. But the rat not so. Don’t like the feel and lofi texture ????

The rat is my favorite pedal. I use it every day.
I don’t see periphery using one if you’re into that pristine kind of tone, but there’s something to be said about the old school raw distortion tones you hear in stoner metal and the like. It fits the aesthetic, the same way that I wouldn’t expect Electric Wizard to use an ENGL head or something.
The Rat is an absolute beast for Doom/Stoner/Sludge. Going into a Matamp, Sunn, or Laney style amp with the Rat is peak fuzzy Doom.
It can also work great for lofi Black Metal if you turn the filter all the way down and run it at half gain into a clean combo amp.
People who don't like the RAT are entitled to their wrong opinion ????
I'd have to load the preset list to check, but one of my favorite uses of the rat was combining it with other boosts/dirt boxes into a lower gain Rockerverb on the HX Stomp, you can get some really nasty tones that way. Also the momentary filter switch preset, that was a lot of fun
I use my Rat pedal for some songs or solo parts. It's not my always on pedal. The Plumes pedal is more useful for me.
Rat loves 2 things semi driven amps and humbuckers
For me its one of those pedals that doesn't sound bad, just ill suited for the style of music I play. Objectively its well made and achieves a certain sound. Just not for me.
