Tube Screamer for Bass? Yes, by Ibanez.

Welcome back!

We always ask for bass specific pedals and when we do get one, we say it’s not like the original effect it was based on… Is this justifiable? Find out in this video!

Signal chain:
. van Loo bass prototype medium scale 5 string bass
. Becos Twain compresor
. Overdrive pedal
. GP Lightstone Tube 2 preamp (no eq)
. 50% blend with Shift-Line CabZoneX (EL84PP amp and 12″ EVM cab)

  • exactly the gadget for those who like to fiddle with their knobs – maybe for studio geeks – useless for real playing live

  • rebuilding my board after a few years long hiatus and came across this video while researching whats hot these days.. and as a guy who's always had a TS9 in his rig, I'm flipping SOLD on this Ts9B after seeing this video. that tone at the end was NICE.

  • I'm having a hard time not buying this, and it happens all the times I hear you play any pedal I'm considering buying! xD

  • Thanks for the video, the last demo, "Modern Drive" is really the tone I like on bass ????

  • I use my TS at times as a boost to add just a little brightness to my always on Morning Glory. It sounds great when played with a chorus to get that 80s Ross Valery type of sound. I run it through a Tri Parallel Mixer as it really does suck the bass out of your tone.

  • What I really like about this effect is that the treble doesn't sting your ears, but it still retains the attack of your picking.

  • Any possibility of doing a side by side comparison of the Ibanez TS9B and the Ibanez PH7 bass overdrive?

Amazing tones and inspiring compositions! Thanks for the channel WB

  • People : "We want an overdrive pedal with a classic tone but for bass." Ibanez : "OK we made the Tube screamer for bass!" People : "But… but it's not like the one for guitars?!" … I swear to God…! Nice overdrive/gain boost with a cool EQ on top. It's pricey for an overdrive for sure, but the EQ is definitely worth it. On clean, you cut through the mix when you don't need overdrive; boost the drive a little or a lot according to what you need. Leave it on clean 100% of the time with a loud band IMHO, or even for funk slap. This is honestly the only pedal you need as a bass player tbh the hate is ridiculous. It doesn't do a RAT as well as the real thing, and it doesn't do an EQ as well as an MXR or something, but what it does all those things 80% as good. And, it's a gorgeous paintjob, a lot better looking than the green monstrosity that the original TB9 is!

  • Fantastic overview, love that demo at the end of the video. Thought I was already subscribed but I guess I was only following you on IG. Definitely subbed now after this video!

  • Hell yeah, every other demo I've seen of this pedal either has it set so low there's no change, or so high its all fuzz like a big muff. Thanks for actually explaining and trying different sounds

  • Amazing demo!!

I'm really happy I found your channel!
There aren't enough industry professionals doing high-quality bass demos like this (I'm a big fan of Patrick Hunter's work) and I'm really looking forward to watching your channel grow!!

    Cheers,

  • Just found your YouTube site. Lots to catch up. I noticed during you Berenger Fuzz pedal review that you placed your EQ after the fuzz. Have you done a video on pedal order. Love the sound of the Ibanez overdrive
