Taylor Big Baby Guitar Review – Use, Honest Review, Thoughts

DBR back again to review a MIM (made in mexico) Taylor Big Baby acoustic guitar. Note: Strings are D’Addario EXL115 set.

I go into a general review and use of this guitar along with some thoughts on choosing options between the “cheaper” guitars currently available on the market.

  • I agree that you want a decent sounding guitar even as a beginner. ultimately the guitar player makes the guitar but you're more likely to enjoy learning on something that sounds decent rather than something really cheap that can't provide good tone.

  • Are the frets smaller/narrower than a standard guitar ? I find it harder to get the strings like I do on my epiphone dreadnaught. Like my fingers are too fat to hit the right strings if that makes sense and end up muting some of the strings.

  • Hi. You might know. I bought the Taylor Big Baby Acoustic/Electric. 2 questions. What do you think about this guitar and also it says it’s slightly smaller than a full size acoustic. What exactly is smaller. Thank you.

  • Have several Taylors 414ce the Baby and the big baby lowered the action and reset the neck on the big baby put some elixr 10 and use it for tunings as good a sound as the martin d18

  • I am confused between this one and Taylor big baby …. of course, a used 000RS1 on eBay and a new big baby ….. I am more into the big baby due to there crisp rich tone … but this one it is all solid deserves the price in opposite to the laminate in a Big baby. But, I will not be able to view the used 000RS1. What do you think ?.

In addition, the used 000RS1 is 550 British pound and the new Taylor is 439.

    Thanks a lot

  • What year was your BB made? My was made in 2016 and my pick guard and the design around the sound hold is different.

I agree a nice guitar for the money. If it had a set neck and it was made in America. it probably would be more expensive.

  • I own a Taylor Big Baby e ( electric version ). I Got a Luthier to lower the action and replaced the Taylor tuners which I didn't find comfortable. The Grover tuners
are much better. I now use bronze wound ultra light strings.

  • You can get electronics for the Big Baby, just look for the Big Baby E. It's obviously more expensive but I would say it's worth it.
