I love the usability of the U8, it’s easy to setup and worked great. The sound is much more natural than any contact or piezo but did come with some noise and bass rumble (maybe in part due to my setup). Ongoing experimentation is key to finding the best sound with the device and your personal setup. I’d be curious if a wired system would be quieter but then again, the wireless aspect is very cool and might be an essential buying point for many guitarists. Very interesting product and nice design overall, I’m excited to keep experimenting with it and trying it out in different environments.

Suena bien. Que es ese ruido blanco ?????
That is a TON of white noise.
Nice sound but it produces a lot of noise. If that's what it sounds like in a small, empty space, I don't see how it could be used in a live environment.
Just got one and had it on the stage for the first time this past Tuesday. One of the issues for me is the low-output of the mic. I had to gain it up a pretty good bit and then it was picking up other noise. I had to mute the rig I was playing through in between each song so it would not be distracting. Other than that, it works good for me on a 1960 Guild 12-string that I purchased in 1977. It does not have any electronics and I wasn't about to drill on it. So, in that regard, it did its job. Just wish it was a bit higher output or there was some pre-amp solution. Thanks for the review.
The system looks great but there are always issues with noise especially when used in an environment where there are light dimmers. I doubt very much if changing channels would help with this. Thanks for the in depth review.
Thank you for taking the time to post this; it’s very helpful.
One question: Do you have any idea how the sound quality of the XVive compares to the (much more expensive) Neumann MCM 114 Miniature Clip Microphone System? (Sorry, I tried to paste a link to it but have not been successful.)
Also, one thing to keep in mind about XVive’s products. I’ve had several of them, including their U3 (Guitar transmitter), U4 (Mic system), and U4 (In-ear monitor). The usability and sound quality of all of them has been good, but in general I’ve found that after about 18 months of moderate use the batteries start to lose their ability to accept a charge. I have no idea if XVive has addressed this, but I mentioned it to a sales rep at a major online retailer and he said he gets that complaint frequently.
Thanks for the review????????Sounds good and seems practical for my use. Seems very noisy also and I wonder if the support can fit on a 66,2 cm body (2,6 inches) ? ????
Is the receiver 1/4 plig in XLR or what?
Thank you for you review. This was detailed and you demonstrated the usage sufficently well to convince me that this is precisely what I need for my classical guitar gigs, having already given the unit some attention on other reviews (yours is the best). The next step is to try one in store myself. I have a Roland RC-33 too – great little units. Star-Trek reference = Full Points LOL, Todah and Shalom ????????
In your opinion, which would you use Savarez 540R Alliance Normal Tension or D'Addario EJ45 Pro-Arte Normal Tension?
When you make lesson recordings that you post here, what if your setup for both your voice and guitar?
Yes, Condenser Microphone is a must. But is this product a good microphone, a stereo microphone, or can we change microphone? I still use microphone stand in front of guitar. I get rid of the annoying cables by using wireless transceiver, e.g. rode wireless go. The system allows me to usemy preferred microphones. I put the transmitter on microphone stand, therefore, there is no danglinf cables. The receiver can be anywhere.
Kind of a loud noise floor
What is the price of this unit?
Looks good
wow looks very practical and easy to use. the fact that its wireless really makes it attractive to try
I tired the ISOLO last year. Honestly, it was terrible and I had a bad experience with them. I have the audio technica version of that mic. It’s not wireless, but it works good in solo situations. I really would like a wireless mic that goes in the sound hole kind of like the ISOLO but that actually works with one of those sound hole feedback busters. I play in loud situations.
Sounds good, usable for live performance. Two remarks. I did notice the noise which seems too much for me. I saw reviews of similar products and they all don't include a cable (usb or other). I don't understand why, technically is perfectly possible to add that option. It would widen the possibilities of the system, and after all, a cable remains the best medium to transfer the signal to the amp.
Did you need an xlr to 1/4 inch adapter to plug it into your amp?
