What do you believe is the biggest difference in Delta Blues, and Hill Country Blues, John? R.L. told me there was none. In general Hill Country Blues hangs on the 1, and has that chunking rhythm thing that R.L. was so good at. And Delta players like Skip James, Mississippi Fred McDowell, and even Eddie Guitar Burns originally from Bentonia, Ms, lived in Detroit for years, but when I played with him mostly as a duo for 15 months he played old Delta type stuff, and Memphis Minnie. Fred McDowell lived in Como, Ms. 30 miles away from the Delta.
