“In this first volume of my CAGED Pentatonic Series, we’ll examine the popular minor pentatonic scale in a new way, exploring how it fits into the CAGED chord system. This will break you out of a lead playing rut, eliminating any gaps of scale knowledge that you may have on the neck.

By looking at examples of minor pentatonic phrasing specifically based on each CAGED minor chord shape, you’ll gain an understanding of how to create melodic solos in any key, anywhere on the fretboard, with a new found confidence.

I’ll take you through practice concepts that will improve your phrasing, such as utilizing ‘limitations’ ‘not starting on the 1’ and ‘repetition,’ as well as learning ways to combine shapes and incorporate a tension note, the spicy b5.
