It ain’t like that and would are 2 of my most favorite songs to play on the bass ????????⚡️????
Mike ????????❤️
Omg Leo you are right why didn't I see that, I have the box set of Twin Peaks ????
Mike Starr 1990-1993 Epic Era his Stage Charisma Boxers Shorts Boots and Left Leg Stomp ..Missed
I actually own Mike Starr's original amp. It still has the markings for his eq. It is a SVT-2.
It seems crazy to have to double the basslines with an acoustic bass to get a good bass sound. Maybe it was just one or two songs for a specific sound.
Absolutely disagree. Mike’s playing was SPECTACULAR!! I have never ever in my life seen or heard someone play bass like that. Man.. Mike was a driving force of power
Mike starr was great but mike inez really had those great basslines on jar of flies
My favorite bass player , RIP Mike & Layne ????❤????????????????????????
My friend wrote all the bass lines on "Dirt" except for Would? which was already complete. Then he had to show Mike Starr how to play the songs. My friend didn't get a "thanks" on the liner the notes and was really mad and after that him & Mike never spoke again.
Mike Starr was such a genius, his tone was perfect. His stage presence was also awesome????
Leo Johnson reference is ????
Another secret? Spector played through Ampeg. No big secret though
I am learning bass at the very young age of 50 (never played another instrument before) and yesterday i tried Rooster and now understand why i used to like AIC bass style..mike starr wears a THE CURE T shirt at the beginning of this video….same dark and expressive bass tones as in Robert Smiths songs (he is my passion since i was in my teens)..
They set Mikes stuff up once and then it didn’t sound that good, they had to tape or mark the knobs on the amp as he had them fully cranked up ????
I got his Ampeg SVT II that he used in the studio from the Facelift and Dirt sessions.
Doom, sludge and drone metal arent the same as grunge.
You should do thunder cat. Everyone’s always blown away by his bass playing skills.
My only problem with Mike Starr was he used a pick.
It’s all about that heavy Spector growl.
Too bad he did not win the battle he fought
Gotta have that Spector growl!
I'll never forget the day Mike Starr passed. I was in college and found out just before my first class. My professor told me that I could have the day off if I needed it.
Can someone please tell me which live is that at 1:47
I'm cool with playing just bass. The guitar player can have all the attention.
Anthony bourdain
I agree with a lot of this but his bass lines definitely had more that 1-3 notes….they were simple but not THAT simple. LOL
Great ???????? Thank You ????????
you won't believe how much i waited for an alice in chains video and you did both of the bass players! thanks mister, respect.
"Alice in Chains isn't defined by the bass"
I beg to differ. I think the bass intro in Would? is the first piece of music I think of when this band comes up.
The 12th fret descending slide is totally Mike Starr! He uses it so much and definitely helps in making a bass line sound pro!
Please make Pete Wentz bass habits ????????????
Do a video on Jean Michael Labadié from gojira, or Jason Newsted
Alice in chains was the only good band out of the grunge movement in my opinion
Can you do a demo of how it sounds like to have an acoustic bass doubling the bass line? I would love to hear a comparison!
Johan de Faralla and Martin Mendez from Opeth would be awesome
A shame how Starr devolved into an addict.I watched him on Celebrity Rehab and he didn't even look like the same guy. The producers tried to encourage him to revive his playing and performing but sadly he was so lost he couldn't.
Maybe you can do one of these for Kyuss where cover both Nick Oliveri and Scott Reeder in separate parts.
Pretty cool clip, Paul. I’m a big Alice In Chains fan and it fascinating to learn about mike’s playing technique. Plus I’ve been checking Out your other videos quite some time and they’re quite informative.
Fun fact: mike uses a flanger pedal in the bass track for them bones. It’s not noticeable in the actual song, but you’ll definitely notice it on the isolated bass track.
Can't wait for Tom Araya's Bass Habits!
this is literally my fav channel, keep it up<3 (also duff mckagan is my favorite too;)
Love him soo much. Such an underrated band
Eric Avery please
Please do piggy D from Rob zombie
I think Mike Starr had one of best bass tones of all time. The isolated bass on Would? sounds so good.
Terrible music…
That had to be an easy one after Geddy Lee
PLS do video to Markus groskopf from helloween
You should do a video on Chi Cheng of Deftones. Similar attitude to the bass. May he Rest In Peace ✌️
Alice in chains has so many great songs
