Hemibass ‘Rig Rundown’ 2024 – The basses and amps that I use

Hi everyone. Here is my ‘Rig Rundown’ video where I go through the gear I use.

Been planning to do this one for a while, but haven’t felt settled on my rig until recently. If I had done a rig rundown when there were still bits of gear on my wishlist, it would have become out of date very quickly so I wanted to wait to make a video like this.

I did a couple of versions where I talked a bit more about my basses and also my synths, but the videos were coming out at close to 30 minutes and I thought that was a bit too long. If people are interested, maybe I’ll do a synth themed one in the future.

I’m very happy with my current rig and get a lot of flexibility out of it. Having different amps to do different jobs really allows for fine tuning which is something I enjoy doing

I will list the gear here that I go through in the video here:
Fender MIJ Geddy Lee Jazz bass
Steinberger L2
Fender MIJ JB-75 Jazz bass

Neural DSP Quad Cortex
Palmer PDI-05
Tech21 Sansamp PSA-1
Tech21 Sansamp GED-2112
Trace Elliot GP12X

Hope this video is interesting, and thanks for watching!

  • Super cool to hear about the gear. Thanks for sharing. Really looking forward to the Driven cover you mentioned as well. Great stuff!

  • Great rig rundown video! Found this really interesting and it's great to see a little bit on how the sausage is made behind the scenes. Your tones and playing are awesome. I could relate to what you said near the end about playing with sound/thinking of tones you like, etc. Many can be so technical about that aspect, but I like approaching it from intuition too (though my "rig" shames in comparison. lol). Thanks for posting this andlook forward to your Test for Echo, Driven, and Yes covers, too!

  • Would love an on-off comparison as to what the PDI-05 actually does. It's such a rare piece of gear it's hard to find demos.

  • Not sure if it would work for you. But the quad cortex can accept 4 separate inputs. Just have to use the 2 effects returns and configure those as inputs. You can then have each one of your 4 channels have their own row of effects.

  • As a long time Rush fan…MASSIVE respect to your dedication to your craft! I'm soon 65 and have been listening to Rush since I was a teenager. Never in a million years would I think I would be almost 65 watching videos like yours crushing geddy's tone and chops. Beautiful man! 🙂 Your band sounds killer too by the way! Thanks!
