When I tried that bass, it was constantly rattling at the top of the neck no matter what fret I played. Tuning the action and/or the neck didn't help.

I saw in Cardiff as well. Absolutely brilliant, I’d say they were heavier than my childhood favourite band Iron Maiden, Maiden should ditch the fenders and get some ESP guitars with EMG pups.
wouldn't it be cheaper to feed the audio into a daw and use the daw to get the sound out of a computer?
If you already have a computer with fairly good speakers that is.
Paul Landers actual rig is amazingly "without busting the bank". Basically just bridge EMG 81 into Sansamp GT2 and you are good to go. It's what makes the "scratch" sound Dave mentioned

would be nice to see a "by busting the bank" version of this. i know that they used to have a place on their website, where they listed their equipment, but they took it away
