Thank you for the tour around this bass.
one of your first sound samples on this brought me back instantly to the time i used to go and watch the Models. The album in particular was Pleasure of your company and the song is "God Bless America" and rumor has it he used a Yamaha BB on much of the album.
I did see him appear with the Ibanez Musician but it didnt have the same sound. It was the Yamaha that really had that quality Models sounds.
I currently have Yamaha RBX375a which I love. I have tweaked the capacitors in it.
I used to have the Ibanez Musicians and a fretless Fender Duff Mcagan, but its the yamaha that is the most enjoyable and effortless to play….. wider flatter neck i guess.
And yes im a dickhead for selling my basses of the past.
Thanks Much
you would be better off with a push push led switch. when depressed it lights up with a tiny led its in the active mode when off its obviously in passive
I have the BB434 in the coffee sunburst colour. Not really into active Basses, so I went for the non-active one. It was cheaper as well. I swapped the Bridge out, put some Flats on. It's now my main Bass.. I sold my '95 Fender Jazz Bass as I stopped using it. I love the PJ sound. Yamaha did a fantastic job on this Bass. Money raised from my Fender will go towards the Yamaha BB P34 MK II Pro Series. I tried one out while in London at the Yamaha Shop. It's expensive, but the best thing I have ever played, picked up
The only reason I even knew about the BB series is because of Peter Hook. Instead of a Fender Player II P bass, Im getting the 434 as my first bass due to him(although I love the Flat matte black of the 734 I just cant justify the extra $280 bucks..or can I?).
They really should give Hooky 10% of every sale since he is probably the reason for 40% of all BBs series bases being sold.
Now I just need to get an old Hiwatt amp, which are very rare and very expensive in the US.
I've been using Yamaha BB's since about 1984 – I'm on my 12th i think =^) I got a 735a a few years ago for just $500 AUD – absolute steal!
Are the fretboard edges rolled off and smooth on that one?
I used to have one exactly the same but like a fool sold it. They really are wonderful basses. I now play a bbp34 with flats on. Still regret getting rid of the 734a though. Great video.????
I like the location of truss rod adjuster. It is easy to just the truss rode on that location. Neck is perfect. If it is 5 string bass with cherry burst color body it will be sold out easily. Its active but I prefer passive.
