3 finger technique bass lesson
You can play some really fast 16’ths with 3 fingers
alternating 3213 2132 1321 3213 etc
Takes some work to eliminate the triplets (which can be played even faster);-)
Originally inspired by Billy Sheehan’s deadly technique.

@RubenGardiner A five String Bass. ;D
lol i fail at 0:15
@DritonGusia Lol, at 190bpm you should have problems
Im having problem playing the 16ths in… around 190bpm, it doesnt sound clean at all… as if something is wrong with my strings, makes me wonder how these guys play fast the 16ths and yet sound so clear… I really want to know how to do that right!
omg fasterrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!
well now am nut mr triplets
thanx
you can play a lot faster when you go 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 ….. like in this video
damn!!! I still can't get rid of those fucking triplets!! It's driving me crazy
there's also the speed fingering technique which it goes alternatively 3212 3212 3212 and so forth.
I've always played with three fingers… What's the big deal?
That is the correct way to do it. Your thumb should be touching the string below (or 2 below) but it shouldn't be resting. Your thumb's knuckle should be barely grazing the string. Otherwise you lose efficiency and strength.
Practice. Oh and by the way Steve Harris from Iron Maiden plays exclusively with 2 fingers, Amazing!
When descending you rake the string like when you play YYZ.
awesome!!!!!
im practising that, and it almost sounds even. but im not over that 123 123 thing yet.
only when i play it slow.
youยดr really great! ๐
ur wrong. billy does 3213 ๐
ur wrong. billy does 3213 ๐
how's that a lesson :s?
billy sheehan does 321 and 12321 three finger picking, Either technique can do whatever you want to play, but it's all about what feels best at that moment. It helps to change up and save those aching fingers live. I'd say learn to do both ways well. Marcus M.
Sure, but try to be consistent and keep from using the same finger twice, unless you're raking
daaaaaaaaanngg thats quick. now you just have to find a drummer to keep up with that
when playing 16'ths with 3 fingers strive to accent the downbeat no matter what finger is plucking, its hard but time and effort will prevail. finger pattern being 3213 2132 1321 3213
can you explain a good way to help your fingers not to accent
my fingers naturally accent the 3rd finger, which leads to accidentally doing triplets, thats what im working on, you got some pretty good technique there, and billy sheehan is fucking awsome. My old technique that im trying to almost totally get rid of is the alternate strokes with just one finger, you know plucking and flicking, it works for a while, but theres no way you can do it more than like 10 seconds
Very impressive ^^
A good exercice to work on
Been trying to teach myself to play this way, when I do it but play different notes, I randomly alternate like 3 1 2 2 1 3 2 3 1 etc, did this happen to you on the way?
