Donner Pedals Tube Drive Nano Review/Demo: Bittersweet Overdrive
This is the Donner Tube Drive nano overdrive pedal. I find this pedal nearly unusable, but I also find the few usable settings to be very good. Unfortunately, not every review can be great, and I can’t recommend this pedal to you unless you’re an amateur player looking for a very ballsy low-to-medium overdrive and you don’t mind extremely fiddly controls.
Donner did give me this pedal to review, but as you can see, I am honest about it. The mini pedals have amazing hardware, but there are issues with the power jacks on the nano pedals currently on the market. The problem is not major, but it is bad enough to not be considered road-worthy in my opinion. Donner claims to have fixed this problem in their new production, but I have not seen one of the fixed versions to verify this.

The sound of the pedal is great in the few good settings, especially with compression (sound demo at the end), but it’s too hard to dial in a tone quickly due to tiny knobs that are over-sensitive. It’s also not very versatile unless you consider lots of bad sounding settings to be versatility.

Overall, it’s a 5/10. I love the general feel of the tone, but It feels like a work in progress and needs improvement on the power jack and the sweep range of the knobs. I only recommend this to someone who has tried one in person and still wants it.

I have the same experience with this pedal. It has a really cool cleaner overdrive at low level, but at loud volume on my amp it sounds muffled. Also the volume knob is almost unusable.

Did you ever think that the silkscreen for the knobs had the normal, boost backwards and it was just an oversight at final approval. I think the pedal works better for single coil guitars in its present form. The rowin tube drive sounds better than any Ts which I think is what they were trying to copy. The rowin tube drive with any single coils and it makes it sound more tube like when you're playing through a tube amp. Check out the in the blues channel
This was never ment to be a copy of that blues driver if that was your intention when pairing the donner to the Boss. There is actually a pedal branded "Tube Driver", that actually David Gilmour uses. This Donner presents more similarities to that one. I bought a Tube drive on May 2017. Great ok any aspect. Non of the issues you mentioned are pesent on the current stock.

I bought a bunch of the cheaper $21 Ammoon pedals on eBay direct from china with free shipping. These are made by Rowin and rebranded for Ammoon and Donner! I noticed that the power jacks were not the best, they easily pull out. A quick fix for me might be to put silicone around plug, as they are installed in my mini pedal board. I do have the rowin phaser and flanger. One Ammoon metal pedal arrived broken, pcb inside says razor. Razor is Rowins version of the metal and metal head pedal.
