Sterling Stingray 5HH Unboxing and Review
I recently purchased a Sterling by Music Man Stingray 5HH bass guitar, to use for home recording and YouTube projects. Here is a video of why I got a bass, why I picked Sterling, unboxing, and an initial review of the bass guitar.

Weight?
would help to hear the direct audio instead of it being mixed with all the sounds from the room
That Bass sound awful, You should have at least tune it up before you did demonstration
I've been playing bass for more than thirty years and I can attest to the quality of anything that comes from Ernie Ball. They don't et you down on stage – they don't break. Remember, if you buy a top dollar one, you'll never need to buy another one. If you buy a cheap one you will still get the reliability but not the premium sound. I play a Stirling USA Stealth 5.
Una momia tiene más onda que vos amigo ????
hello, how much does it weigh, does it work for a long time? greetings from Turkey
The fret ends are just unfinished. Typical of budget instruments. I fixed mine quickly. Love the bass.
Thanks for the video…I'm about to order this exact bass. Thanks for actually playing the B string notes !!! I see videos by others demoing a 5 string & never touch the B string.Been playing bass for about 45 yrs & currently have 20 basses.I have everything from Rics,Fenders,Squiers,Schecter,Epiphone & Lakland.I had one of these before in the Lake Blue with the rosewood neck but I sold it to fund my Lakland.I kinda regretted it but knew I'd find another one someday.Once I saw it in this color with the maple neck knew I had to have it…Going to get it for Christmas !!!
Coming back after not playing for 15 years and was looking at this model today. Played it, felt real nice, but that fret buzz worries me. Were you able to adjust it to get it to go away? That was the only issue I had with the bass.
I’ve played bass for 15 years. I am not a fan of spending thousands of dollars for a bass. I’m looking at getting this exact bass in the coming weeks!!! I most definitely will after seeing your review thanks man for this content!!!! I’ve also looked at many other review from bass players talking about this bass for experienced player and this bass holds up for that. It is not a “beginner” bass, this bass is just a great instrument and is worthy of all experience levels!!! God bless man!!!
Very well done – Appreciate the time you spent on this! Very informative.
I just took delivery of this same HH-5 bass; red too couple days ago.
Mine seemed very well built too. But I also had that horrible fret ring noise out of the box.
I gave truss rod wheel a 1/4 turn. Played it abit, retuned it, better but still some ring.
I gave it another 1/4 turn, raised all 5 bridge saddles one full turn; way better.
I do prefer abit higher action. But its still very low but plays well now.
I just need to get used to the 16.5mm string spacing, sheesh.
I owned 2 US Sray 5s in early 2000s. Just couldn't get along w them. Mighta been the single pup.
My other 12 basses have 19mm, a couple Ibanez at 17.5mm.
But this Sterling HH-5, plays n sounds very nice, to me. I may cancel my 3rd Sire order, M5-5, n keep this Sterling instead.
peace, e.
Hey interested to know. Does the D string play slightly lower output in your ray5hh. Just purchased this same bass and find the d quieter particularly on hammer ons, tried a ray4 hh in the shop and they found the same thing. Not on the single h though. Anything on this one? Trying to see If it’s an issue with others.
Problem with these guys yak yak yak blah blah blah they don't demonstrate the damn instrument they just talking about nothing
still happy with this? considering getting one exactly like this.
Great video! That neck looks like its got quite a flame to it!
Good video, nice bass too
Great choice for a bass! I love me some stingray basses. Great content my friend. Keep them coming.
Always love some Lenny Kravitz haha!
I’m a bass player and I think you did an excellent job choosing this. I’m actually shopping around for one exactly like this just for the sake of modding the electronics and pickups. You’re a guitar player and I always recommend the narrow 16.5mm string spacing of a 5-string Music Man-style bass or Ibanez. Cheers.
