  • Eastman missed a trick by not making this model top of their range of 12 fret acoustics.

  • Jon, you where saying this was a model where a couple where spilled out into the European market. This was certainly NOT the case. ????

The Eastman E40-oo model is a very limited, kind of 'customshop model' which was spec-ed and ordered by 'The Fellowship Of Acoustics' in The Netherlands. Yes TFOA is based in Europe and they are a really big and beautiful guitar & luthier store, but this was by no means a European model.

These 00-models are fire! Attention to detail is stunning on these ones too, though a little bit too much for my personal taste with all the shiny inlays. The built quality is exceptionally good, and very different compared to their E10parlor and E20parlor models. The E40-oo is really resonant, because it's built more delicate. Read: thinner tops/backs compared to the normal and overbuild E10parlor and E20parlor, which have really thick tops and backs.

I wish they will build this model with a normal Spruce top or Alpine Spruce instead of Adirondack spruce. The positive thing about the Adirondack spruce tops is the high headroom. These won't crap out, if you play/strum them with a heavy hand. Which would be odd for a fingerpicking guitar, but hey…nice anyway.

Keep up the good work. Music heals the soul!

    Best regards,
    Marco

  • It's a shame they only made 20 or so of those. I was looking for one a few years ago (maybe a year after you made this video) after watching Silly Moustache's review (see https://youtu.be/NEoTLQL7AaE?si=30dsiNgrHzvXNhB0). I ended up with an E10 OO mahogany that I got used on Reverb, which is a less refined guitar, but incredible sounding nonetheless. Tom White does a very nice review of the E10 OO.

  • I just bought one of these (in australia)
I prefer the look of the 20, but this just sounded much more alive than the 20!

  • I love this type of guitar and own an all solid Sigma S00R-45VS which is fabulous but I think Eastman let the E40 down by not binding the headstock. The guitar has everything except that. I just don't understand not binding the headstock and with the torch it just looks wrong to me.

  • I have serious guitar envy! I have been wanting to get my hands on a 12 fret 00 . I have two 12 frets now. It is a lot easier on old guys like me than the dreads and the 14 frets. Especially after running off a scaffolding 8 years ago.

  • This is a guitar I’ve wanted for a long time. ???? It would be great to have a sunburst top too. It has the perfect amount of bling for me too! So cool! Thanks for sharing, guys!!

  • Those are super rad.Reall want an om or a smaller body. My wife says 8 is enough she wants flooring instead????

  • Those look like the Traditional Parlor Series rather than the OO series……

  • Hi fellahs, I'm an old guy from the UK and I got my E40-00 from TFOA in he Netherlands in October 2020. I already had a "stock" E20-P so I could compare with the build styles.
for performance purposes I tend to use my Collings 12 fret dreads, but during the Covid years I went to my smaller guitars (Collings 000 and Waterloo. (WL12) for teaching. These E40-00 (Grand Concert
rather than "parlour") are built quite differently from/to the perfectly good E20 range. I cannot recommend these guitars high enough. I had been hoping to find a Collings 002h or Martin 0028-VS but with my Eastman E40-00 my search is over. See: https://youtu.be/NEoTLQL7AaE and https://youtu.be/C274kLswyAo I reckon Eastman ought to pay me for promoting these great instruments!

  • 1"13/16ths?….????????‍♂️…come on guys get with the new world!!….its 46mm!! …being from the UK I hate to say it but for measuring, the metric (French) system is far better than the "imperial system" as its commonly known here…and while we are at it here's one for your repair shop (Liz) did you know that JIS screws (Japanese Industry Standard) are different to Phillips screws? so if you repair any Japanese guitars especially the old ones be aware as Phillips drivers don't fit….anyway i digress great review on the Eastman Parlour they look and sound great….yes im still waiting on my Eastman E40OM-SB to hit these shores and we have the main port of Felixstowe closing for strike action for 8 days starting tomorrow …at this rate i may get it next year….fingers crossed…????

  • I always wonder why not make a simple blingblingless model with all the best AAAA woods and attention just focussed on sound. They sound great though:))

  • Beautiful little guitars! And they sound great, too. Continually impressed with Eastman. I'm guessing no pickup or you would have mentioned it. Also, would always like to see a close up of the tuning keys! Thanks for showing us.
