Been using a QC but have the TK preamp on order to build a board similar to this – leverage a few outboard pedals, the tone of the TK, and the flexibility of the QC. A bit complicated, but I think it has a lot of potential.
I have the TK Imperial Preamp in a very complex rig. I bought it as soon as it was available. Its comprehensive analog I/O makes it the center piece of my rig. Absolutely a fantastic product.
It has its own thread in the Gearpage Forum. Anyone considering getting one can learn a lot about it there.
And one of the members on that thread is on the pedal's design team. He has posted that there will be firmware updates that will be forthcoming that will add to the preamp's capabilities through MIDI implementation. If I remember correctly, one of the possibilities is MIDI control over the reverb and tremolo parameters. So stay tuned.
thanks chris i have the TKIP and have built a board around that but also have the QC which was my main rig till this came in. I have debated putting them together only not atm due to size. But I am curious if you decide to put a vid out detailing midi changes for the pedals through the qc i would be interested. I have the strymon riverside/sunset/compadre/dig/volante/flint and tomorrow the ultraviolet. my current board has wah-walrus audio eons-riverside-compadre-TKIP-dig-flint. I have been demoing the volante vs dig/flint combo trying to decide. Thanks for vid i'll check for future vids.
excelent tones and video! thinking about getting one of this.
Thank you for putting this together and hope the baby is going well. How does it compare to the cortex? Does it give you something the cortex doesn't? Curious to hear your thoughts.
I love mines. It is worth the hype. It feel so good under the fingers and sounds so good. I still have to post a demo video of it.
Thank you for posting this, Chris can you tell that it is an actual tube preamp when compared with modeled or captured tones? Either in tone or feel
I have a Tonex and the tones can be really good, but I really have to re-eq it for every different setup (ie headphones, smaller speakers, FR10) sometimes, I just can’t get it back to sounding natural.
