Oliver jr sounds better ????

Microphones prefer a smaller body. Less boomy. However I like warmer and fatter sounds. My guitar is one the best I’ve ever heard, but it is a bitch to mic up.

All mini guitars, whether Martin, Taylor and whatever an Oliver is, sound like the cheap Chinese knockoff version to me. Hard pass.

I have an Oliver Jr, it is my travel guitar and it has been around the world with me ????
Turmites ate up my cheap classic acustic, it's full size, I paid around 30 dollars. Now replace it, is about 80 dollars. I thought about a 3/4 or Jr.. I wasn't sure of the size difference beteen the two. I never tried neither.
yes, you get a smaller sound from a smaller guitar. because the only reasonable definition for "smaller sound" is how a smaller instrument sounds.
in particular, you obviously have less bass on a small guitar, and if you tune the same strings to the same notes on a shorter scale length, you also lose a bit of treble due to the looser strings. if you combine both factors on a small guitar with short scale, you get tone constrained towards the mid range. it can be great, can be equally or almost equally loud (it might be equally loud if you compensate for shorter scale length with heavier gauge strings that yield equal or higher mass on the vibrating section), the difference to a big guitar can go unnoticed if you don't listen for it, but unless you counter with amplification favouring the weak frequency range ends, a small guitar will always sound like a small guitar. some small guitars are likely to sound much smaller than they need to though, by way of not being built appropriately thinner than big guitars. the shrinking of the soundboard and back needs to be compensated by making them and their bracing thinner in order for the plates to maintain a relatively similar resonance to those of a larger guitar, and many cheap smaller guitars are likely to not be built as thin as needed in order to not make them too fragile (especially instruments made for kids).

I love smaller. I have a Taylor Mini Koa Plus it sounds beautiful. Only down side to them is you do look a bit like an ed sheeran wannabe lol

It loses out a smidge on the low end, but that's to be expected.
Big difference
Playing around a campfire, bigger yhe better. For recording i prefer a 3/4 size. Much easier to mix
the bigger one obviously has a fuller sound and gives room for the full note to shine, whereas the smaller guitar because of the lack of room to resonate enough you end up with weaker lows and overpowered mids and the highs are more pingy.
I'm 6ft tall with fat fingers. Always prefer a bigger size guitar, Dreadnaught if possible so I don't have to cramp my fingers or accidentally touch the next strong when pressing chords.

The small Oliver is missing the bass you can hardly hear it. Sounds twangy. The prices matters as well. I have to look to see how much they cost
