  • Hey, today I listened to an A/B comparison of Super Distortion bridge HB versus the Super 70s bridge HB playing EVH first lp with a period correct lawsuit Ibanez Destroyer. The results? Hands down the songs sounded more realistic with the Super 70s humbuckers . I have always loved the sound of those. Just a observation. So do you make anything comparable to them!?

  • 42:00 – scarcity has to do with desirability but wasn’t the debate on whether vintage guitars/amps are “tonally” superior?

  • I would pay anything for a The Office return season, just in order to have the ThroBak guys be recurring characters on the same business lot, adjacent to Vance Refrigeration,…that unboxing ???? ????

  • The sg is one of the best guitars iv ever played. The neck was awesome. If you get a good one. Iv had a les paul deluxe that would give anything a run for theyre money too. Played a lot of diffrent guitars through the years. Cant beat a good sg. That one you played sounded great.????

  • I called with questions about going down the rabbit hole and they passed the phone to the man behind the curtain. Jon personally answered all my questions. This guy is NASA smart but talked to me on a level I understood. I couldn't order them fast enough. He told me a week to produce and ship on Thursday and I received an email they will be here on Monday. Outstanding service, I appreciate your help.

  • For the semi-hollow models, the vintage guitars nearly always sound warmer to me acoustically. I'm not a luthier, but it probably has something to do with a combination of the aging process of the wood and other materials, the constructions methods, and the heavy lacquer applied to most new guitars. And for vintage tube amps, there are some really great newly built amps, but there is an aging process to all of the materials in an amplifier (including the speaker cones) that helps to mellow the tone so although new amps can sound great your new "reissue" amp is not going to sound quite like the vintage one.

  • Do Alnico 2 magnets reduce the clarity of a humbucker compared to Alnico 5 magnets (all things being equal)? That's been my experience with modern Gibson humbuckers, but I think there is more variation between the pickups than the magnets.

  • i think a lot of folks are listening with their egos. nobody wants to say i paid $40,000.00 for this guitar and it's a turd. naturally it's the best thing you ever heard.

  • Modern guitars can be better than vintage (luthier built acoustics) but many factories are using poorly selected lumber that acts like a sponge to the resonances. Good lumber is harder to come by.
