i have a squier affinity precision pj bass and recommend it as a first bass guitar. and i hear that it is not only for amateurs, experienced players love it too.
One budget bass I recommend is the Ibanez GSR200B, like with all cheap basses it'll need a proper setup but I've been playing one for a few years now. Great bass for the value ($229)

If you worked at Guitar Center, you weren't working. You were playing instruments and getting paid to ignore customers.
Markbass? I love that Musicman model
There are no more local music stores
I’ve got an Ibanez sr300 for around 300-400 dollars and I’m pretty blown away about how versatile and well designed it is. It’s light, thin and sexy.
I have the Ibanez micro. It's definitely worth the price. Good sound, stays in tune, easier to play than a full sized bass.
Jackson JS23
Dude ur basically just rattling off cheap basses????????????
would a 5 string cort action bass work for metal as well?
Im assuming any bass can, right?
Bacchus

Gretsch junior jet is well worth the 300.00
